Stingray 43

I have a 43" Aeromarine Stingray.
It has a pro-mod Zenoah 230 PUM w/clutch purchased from Enforcer.
I have a surface drive and quad exhaust on it (Enforcer)
I want to increase the performance of the engine by purchasing the 25cc kit if it's worth while or getting a totally new engine. I can't get any taller as the spark plug cap is already tight on my hatch.
I also want to put some sort of a decal kit on it.
I am using a prather 275 twin blade prop-how do I determine if the performance is adequate?

Please offer any suggestions,thanks.

If you want to increase the performance first thing to do is dump the Water injected quad exhaust. :o I ran one on my first boat man it robs the power. Get a hanson or Cooper or QD exhaust on her. The change will be like night and day.

You will also decrease the chance that you get water in the engine. If you happen to pick the boat up out of the water wrong the water that is left in the pipe will be in your engine. (This is not a good thing on a hot motor)

I would run her first with a good exhaust system then deside if you want a engine upgrade. :D Rocket City Racing (http://www.rocketcityracing.com/Pilot.asp?pg=products&grp=136)

What about the holes that are left in the transom?
I really don't mind the quad exhaust, I like the appearance.
I have the exhust header angled down so it would be difficult for water to run into the engine.
Would a new pipe fit under the hatch or would I have to cut holes?
Guess I could leave the quads on for looks.

Keep the Pro-mod 23, that thing is a screamer with a Whh wet pipe or even better a dry pipe set up. I have one sitting in the garage that came out of my Team Pro. I replaced it with a stock 260 but saw more speed with the modded 23.
I have both motors and compared them strait facts.
I (THINK) the 260 would kick butt in a cat over the 23 though.

Is the new version of the Zenoah w/four ports that much better than the engine I have?
The boat runs about 40 now and I would like to get it over 50m.p.h.

Put almost any tuned pipe on it and welcome to the 50mph club. Hold on to that 275 that seems to be the prop of choice for sport runners getting into the 50mph range for some reason, a tweak or two to it won't hurt either.

The 230 and newer 231 twist out rpm. Prop them down and let them scream.
The 260 is a torque monster, leads the pack with the right mods and can carry more prop.

I appreciate the help. How do I know which pipe to purchase so it works where I have the motor mounted (distance from transom etc.?)

If I put a tuned pipe on it can I have it exit out the transom? or will I have to cut a hole in the hatch?

With a 43 inch boat chances are you are going ot have to cut somewhere. Most all of the pipes are about the same size. I like the hanson myself but that is just a personal preference. Hanson makes several headers I would look at the 90 degree and bring it out the back or the 100 degree and bring it out under the hatch. To fill in the exhaust holes where you remove the wet exhaust use small peices of glass cloth and resin on the inside. and call Remy and see if he can get you a small amount of color match gel coat that the boat was made out of. put it on sand it polish and your done.

Guess I should have looked at the pictures first it does look good like it is but that is where a choice has to be made do you want scale or do you want fast?

I was able to use a 90 and a hanson on my 52" boat and only ablut 2" came out the back I like you liked the look and it was cool to see the water coming out the exhaust but the performance sucked.

With a deep V header you can get it in there pretty descent.
