Im looking for a cheap pillar drill to accurately drill four holes in the centre of my landmax where the centre diff sits.

I have found a cheap pillar drill here

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7106488.htm

In the specs it says "Max spindle distance 50mm"

What exactly does that mean?

With the side guards off the chassis, its about 60mm to the holes i need to drill.Does that mean the drill bit wont reach?

Thanks

I have that drill, its great.

The 50mm is just how much the dill can come down, the gap you are talking about is about 100mm, so you should be fine.

Make sure you get some quality drills, it doesnt come with any.

cheers minimole

I bought the drill thinking it was to small for my application. What a monster!
and only twenty sheets as well. On the box it says diecast table 160X160 which is plenty.

btw, the instructions where crap. How exactly did you attach your chuck to the spindle? I hammered my chuck onto the spindle. Seems a bit dodgy though. How about thee?

thanks for the help
