I only wish my wife would enjoy the hobby with me and my son. But she really has no interest in at all.

I am a girl in the hobby. Actually, my ex-bf let me run his 1/10th in a local park and I was hooked! Y'all should give the gals the controls to one of your "beaters" and just let 'em have fun! Until they try it for themselves, they'll have no idea how much fun it really is!

Go off-road nitro!

My wife has gotten into the hobby a few times over the years. She currently has a Mini-T and it's everything I can do to keep her from buying an Emaxx or Mini LST everytime we go to the hobby store!

Ayuh (http://www.rc-resources.com/RockinBil).

First words out of her mouth when I got my first GT was "Can I have one?"

Mine hates it cause of the time and money it takes. But she tolerates it because she know's how much I love it. And she probly is waiting for me to give it up it has been over 2yrs. and still loving RC and she will be waiting alot longer.

after watching me and hanging out at the track with me every sunday for the last 6 months, my missus has decided to get into it. She's now got my old TL01 and is converting it into a buggy.

But I regularly hang out with 3 other guys who are mostly bashers (one races), and all of their wives/gfs are into it too. OK, one of them has a super el-cheapo because every time her bf lets her drive one of his 'real' cars, she finds something to ram it into.

My missus is the only one interested in racing eventually, but the others might get there one day. either way, depending on how you look at it, we are all spending more quality time with our partners, or we just can't get away from them. ;)

Well guys i've been married for 19 years and have been into the hobby for about 21years.. my wife tolerates it's as I am a avid racer and will hit the track a minimum of two days in the winter and three or more in the summer.. I've let her drive everything from a mini T to Hyper 7, Tmaxx... She has no interest which is okay as it get's me out of hte house.. Cause my honey-DO list adds up quick.. But their are quite a few ladies who drive at my local track.

I hear you brother!

But back to the original topic, now without being bashed at by everyone. First thing, I'm neutral on whether or not we need more women involved in the hobby (I don't care). If women show up at the track I won't discriminate them. But I seriously don't think we need to intentionally get our own wives/GF's involved! Why? In life, we all need something we can do on our own, or with friends. Drinking, sports, a little gambling, etc, etc are some of the more common for most guys. And for some of us, yes, RC car racing. Maybe unless you are in need of something that you and your other half can do together. But in my mind, RC car racing is just NOT one of them. Heck, let me ask you this; do you ever consider going with your gf/wife if she was with 4 other women shopping at the mall? Or would they think about "Why don't we all bring our bf's/husbands out shopping together!"

^ ^ LOL. Or say to your buddies, "Joe, I gotta take a whiz. Come to the head with me."

Well I'll tell you this - that pal-ing around with the guys gets less and less important the older you get. To have a partner that's actually interested in what you do is definately a good asset in a relationship that lasts. :D

I kind of like the fact that my girl has nothing to do with the hobby. I lover her and all but I need some "me time" a few times a week and R/C cars are my way of having that. I had a girl that wanted to race and work on cars with me all the time in the past and after a few months of it I was going nuts with her around ALL THE TIME!

yeah the same here. I enjoy the "me time" like ultima said, because the first time I let my gf drive, was my mini lst and se hit a wall at full speed. But in my case, my mom is more interest in this hobby than my gf. I race in the Monster truck class with my t-maxx, and now with an LST, so my mom told me that since I dont race the t.maxx any more is she could? can you belive it?

Well guys, my version of the story, im Chilean (southamerica) and my wife is Brazilian ... she accepts my Hobby and kind of support it (she buys my bodies for 200mm nitro racing and now for monster truck racing and she paints them). Once she pit me during a small race but she dont want to drive anything ...

And for my doughter, 5 years old and want a RC Truck for her !! :D ...

yeah, i got my wife a mini-z beetle and she drove it up and down the living room for, oh, maybe 20 sec. Then she went back to her book club reading.

So much for getting her into the hobby.

I agree with UP XL, sometimes you just need "me time."

Becca - Havent seen you on in a while. And I think I havent seen you on Yahoo IM in like 2 years! Nice to see you're aound.

Yeah, I went through some hurricanes and lost some stuff and moved back up to NYC area. Lots of stuff has happened since we last spoke. I am not using yahoo messenger now, only msn, and only every so often. PM me or something, I don't want to hijack the thread!

But it's nice to be back and see all my buddies again! :)

My girlfriend, well ex girlfriend(long story) really liked it, she understood it wasent a kids toy, but i would only let her drive my t4, and that was when it had a 15x2, now it has a 1x2 and i dont see her very often(long story).

but yeah, she kinda wanted her one for shrself, and i was gonna buy her a t4 but then we broke up and now she is with some girl patty...witch i hate.
we still talk, but not latly, she has been in and out of the mental hospital 3 times for cutting, and i barley never get to talk to her, but when i do, the last thing she says when we hang up is, "I Love you Frankie" and i still have feelings for her...omg why did i just type all this? oh well.
