I just purchased a new set of tires. I bought 2 2packs of Zombie-Maxx tires and 2 2packs of RPM Maxx Chrome rims.
Can someone post or link a walk through on putting together the new tires for the 1st time. A magazine link or something with pics would be great.
My basic understanding is:
1. Scuff up the tracks on the new rims with some fine grain sanding paper.
Question: How rough? What grit sandpaper?
2. Insert the foam liner into the tires.
Question: What about wrapping a layer of duct tape inside the tires? Any suggestions?
3. Put the tires on the rims.
4. Pull the tire back from the track on the rim and bead a small stream of tire adhesive (overpriced superglue) into the track and replace the tire.
Question: How long do I let them dry?

1. any medium grade paper should work. a rotary tool with a wire wheel would work well too
2. layer of duct tape instead of foam inserts? if so, not a good idea. the insert is there to help it flex and absorb impact
4. this will vary, but give the glue about 18 hrs to fully dry. i know it says bonds in seconds on it, but thats only for the inital bonding.

Don't have a link for you but def some advice - I use 200 - 220 grit sandpaper and wrap it on a flat 8" metal file - the edge is about as perfect a fit as you'll get to that track where the tire bead will be glued. I just make a pass and scuff the plastic up. With chrome, however, its very hard to bond to (slick), so scuff enough to really dull the shine.
After you're finished, use some denat alcohol on a clean rag and wipe the areas off that you just scuffed up. Also wipe the bead of the tire off. Tire moulds are coated with a release agent that will prevent CA from setting up.
The tape to use is strapping tape - the stuff with the fiber reinforcing stuff in it if you're going to use tape. Some like it, swear by it, others could take it or leave it. You want 2" wide, wrap just enough to overlap a full inch or so - more and you'll screw the tire balance up. Scotch cat. 50 is what I'm going to try when I get there.
Next is assembling the foams and tires on the wheels. I've gotten to like stiffer foams rather than softer and usually toss the ones supplied with the tires and buy proline ultra firms. There are other firm ones avail - Racers Edge, Panther and Trinity offer them. Spend some time and make sure the foams are not pinched or bunched anywhere and I usually wipe the tire bead one more time with denat alcohol before I seat the bead in the wheels.
Another thing I started doing was spinning the wheels up on a drill when they are ready to glue, but before - this will def let you know if they are straight or lumpy and you have a chance to deal with any issues before you glue. Once glued, you live with it. I made an extended axle from a bolt. Be carefule the 1st time you spin one up - I've had one I thought was seated come off and fly past my face, lol. That was a surprise, lol.
Good CA - I've had good luck with the Losi CA. I just start in one place ans slightly pull the bead off and apply the CA an let it wick its way around. A little goes a long way - doesn't take much. Set the bead back in place almost immediately and work all the way around. Repeat for other side. Never had one come unglued. Getting any grease off the bead and scuffing the wheel up is key to getting a good bond, wheel to tire.

Duster nailed it right on. Just remember to put some rubberbands on to keep the tires firmly secured as the glue dries.

not instead of.. use the duct tape in addition too. to keep the tire from expanding at high revolutions and loosing shape.

I run zombies on rpm titans and I have a set on some maxximizers. They tend to slide over if you know what i mean...
Would putting duct tape on the inside to keep them from expanding fix the shifting off center of the rim issue?
