help needed

i just needed to find out: is balsa wood okay to use as a hull if painted? and if you are using two 540 type motors do you need to gear it down?

yes,but not very strong, paint inside and out.out side start with a good sanding sealer. motors? depends on hull,

balsa works fine for 'skinning' a hull. I think I might do a bit more than just paint the hull (inside too). That would depend, though, on the type and size of boat and how likely it is to run into something. Also if there are any exagerated compound curves in the hull.
Gearing down the motors. Another one of those 'depends' things. If the boat is very large you probably wouldn't need any gearing. But, that 'gearing' can also be done with the pitch of the props to some degree, sort of.
Not knowing the type of boat or it's size sort of limits opinions.

i am not sure how long i want it to be, could you give me an idea of how long you think it should be with that motor setup?

and i am just going to use old rc car electronics. will they work for this?
