I was thinking about the CEN Genesis or the HPI Savage X. Are there problems with the Cen?

Harder to find parts for than a HPI or Traxxas truck would be. Kind of important when stuff breaks so you won't be sitting around for a week waiting for parts to show up.

The Cen is good for backyard bashing. That means that you'll be running through the grass, on a hard surface, and small jumps. If you try to make high flying 4' or larger jumps you are going to be breaking things. It's never how far you fly, it's how high you fly that kills your truck (It's an E=MC^2 thing, please don't ask me to explain or you'll have to pay to take one of the courses I teach.). The Cen has some nice top speed to it and is easy to work on for the beginner. Just don't expect to be taking it to the BMX track and think it will hang with the big dogs.

Both are awesome bashers im not sure if a stock genesis could keep up 2 a savage tho. Go to www.slapmafro.com and download some vids then ull see how durable a savage is

Technically, it has nothing to do with E=MC^2, rather it has to do with V(vertical)=AT. The longer the time it spends in the air (higher jumps), the harder it hits, breaking more stuff.

I have had 5 or 6 T-Maxx trucks, and a couple of Savages.
T-Maxx trucks are fine for anything like bashing, but really are now outdated on the track.
I have had <and still own a couple> of Savages, and even though they are not quite as easy to work on as a T-Maxx, as far a power, strength and durability, I would have to say Savage. Both trucks have plenty of hop-ups and parts are still easy to find at just about any hobby shop for either truck.
But bone stock,I would have to go with Savage.

Dont waste your time and money on a Cen. These truck were manufactured to be one thing at the time, the biggest truck out there. Cen are quality cars and trucks, but are more for bashing and are not really good for the track.

It's ok, but for your first 1/8th scale truck I'd really stick with an HPI Savage or a Traxxas Revo. It'll be a lot easier to get going again when things break, and they will on any truck. Also lots of people have them so advice will be easy to find as well.

Will a savage X outrun the cen genesis? How good is that 46 engine with 5hp?

go for the savage, mgt, tnx or lst. honestly, your best choices for speed, durability and parts support. the cen has limited parts support
