dont worry, If you get a new one probably wont have any problems, I got mine 2 months ago and still running without a single problem, or you can get the new LST2, that is supposed to be like the LST without the "problems".

Like Racing t said, the LST 2 is the better truck of the two...and far better value (you're getting a lot more than $50 worth of stuff).

As for the things you'll want to address if you get the original...

-Rx pack. Not optional. Not even close. Buy a flat pack and a charger.
-Diff cases. Aluminum ones are absolutely necessary and are cheap, just $20 bucks for the pair.
-Supsension arms. They're not very tough. When you break them, don't bother with stock replacements. Get the RPM arms and some Lunsford 5x40 titanium camber rods. It's a bulletproof combination. I've got that setup on all four corners of my LST and haven't broken or bent one yet.
-Engine. They had some problems when they first came out. They don't anymore, given that you treat them right. Don't run it too lean, don't over-rev it, etc. It makes tons of power, and when treated right, lasts a long time.

I can't think of any other issues. Just go have some fun with it. Join the LST thread. (http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?p=1959877) There are lots of LST owners (including me) who post there and that can answer any questions you have about the truck.

well i've added the Conversion set of TiNi metal gears to mine with a set of 40 series Bow tie tires on the lst2 20mm yellow dish rims. I'm planning on using a Lipo 1900 packs to run my electronics and servo's..

metalry, why is the need for the aluminum diff cases??

The plastic ones usually fall apart before you're even done with break-in. The original LST had super touchy brakes, and the first time you got on them hard at all they locked up all four and cracked the front, and maybe even the rear diff case. If that didn't break the rear case, the first decent shockload on the drivetrain would. Under load the ring and pinion try to pull apart from each other and the plastic case allows them to do just that, but the plastic isn't flexible so it breaks when forced to flex. The aluminum cases don't do that.
