I have a dilemma. I'm thinking of doing some heavy mods to my Tmaxx, but now I kind of want a Savage and could buy one with the price of the upgrade to the Maxx. So my question is would you rather have a wicked Tmaxx or have two trucks? I'm so confused........
Help!

I use to have a sirio .18 Maxx and 24.7 Maxx. I really liked them until I got my Savage. It was a little slower then them but I liked everything else on the Savage. I sold 1 and hopped up the Savage and got it to where I never ran the other Maxx. It's still my favorite r/c I have.

So you guys are saying get a Savage? ;)yep owned a couple of maxxes and other trucks also
the Savage is the most durable by far out of the box and a pretty good performer too.

I'm doing the ultimate for a Tmaxx type vehicle - building a full UE SuperMaxx. Its all alum, skeleton Thunder chassis, bulkless, 8 spyder diffs, 8mm steel CVDs, OTB gears, Super6 FOC, alum tranny case, Racer X Suspension, Racer X shocks etc. Its been a lot of fun since most of the major parts are no longer made new and I've been hunting used parts and pieces for 4 or 5 months. With engine, exhaust, and electronics I figure I'll have $1600 in it. I'm also building a small block Dace Predator, but its a little behind the SM progress wise.
I also have a 4.6SS Sav and unless you're prepared to go the UE route, Tmaxx will never live up to the Savages durability. I'd go with a Savage and I would get the 4.6. Mines been a blast and past getting some assembly bugs worked out, I've burnt up one slipper pad set. Engine had a prob, but HPI took care of that right away.

tighten down the nut all the way. I run the SH .28 and have yet to burn up a spur.

I run plastic. Tighten it down all the way because the SH has nasty torque

just curious, do you jump whatever truck you run? cause if you fully tighten your slipper clutch, you risk breaking parts of the transmission...

Tighten the slipper clutch, then a quarter turn out. It should work fine, jumping or not.
Quinton- Nice truck, it looks great.

The biggest part of durability in any MT is the driver. Now with that said I suck at driving. Though I now own five trucks (A Savage .25 RTR with the reverse and 3 speed upgrades, A T-Maxx Wide with the 2.5R, a Terra Crusher, A NIB Duratrax Warhead that has yet to be started and a NIB XTM Mammoth that is set to be delivered on Thursday) I am still a newbie. Knowing that I am A newbie the first thing I did was to mod the Maxx with aluminum front and rear bumpers, bumper mounts, skid plates and frame rails.
The other day we had the Maxx, Savage and Crusher out in a large 500'x500' field. My depth perception got thrown off and I hit a small tree with the Maxx at nearly full speed (around 40mph). The hit was hard enough that I bent the front skid plate to near 90* and broke the top mounting point for the bumper clean off. Nevertheless it did nothing to the rest of the truck and I drove it for 2 more tanks after the accident. My point here is that any truck can be made to handle the abuse from even an knucklehead like me.
I love all my trucks and my advice is keep the Maxx get the Savage and upgrade each as funds allow. If your Maxx is like mine, crazy fast and a blast to drive, you'll hate you're self if you sell it.

Go with a savage. I was debating between a TMaxx and a savage and I heard better things about the savage. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and I love it. I would def. go with a savage and then you'll still have your tmaxx. 2 trucks is better than 1 in my eyes.

im different so i say have abad mother of atmaxx... but in reality i would get a savage and keep the maxx
my idea is run a savage with a few mods and make the tmaxx a light truck through nylon and CF upgrades and run a high power .12 or even a .15 and that way it wont suck so much fuel and if u have a friend that wants to play a well built tmaxx even with a .12 will keep up with your sabvage off the line but gearing it wont have the top speed or blistering accel to break as many parts if u have a friend that wants to try out r/c

i was having the same problem with the plastic spurts the clutchbell eating the teeth off them. I switched to aluminum clutch shoes and everything is perfect it rips the teeth off of them because with the power of the 4.6 the nylon shoes cant grab good enough and slip on the clutchbell causing heat and that melts the spur.

if you intend to race, you MUST get an LST2 (better than the REVO and no upgrades needed.....but you can always upgrade l8r if you have the urge) or get ready to fall behind the pack.
