I got a Hellfire, and it is sweet (looking). Totally bummed because I can't break in the engine untill its above 60 degrees outside and guess what, I live in Denver. I don't forsee that soon. Here are some pics.

Nice dude, but you don't really need to wait for 60 degree wheather. I've broken engines in, in 40 degree wheather without issue. I say pop that engines cherry and start having some fun. :D :p

Just wrap some aluminum foil around the head and have at it.

I guess I could just break it in inside the house...lol
Nooooo, don't do that unless your house has extremely great ventilation!! Just do it outside dude.

he said it started easy and ran good untill for a few minutes then would quit out, basicly it would heat up and lose compression

The engine will be hotter than whatever the ambient temp is in just a few seconds of running. Keep the truck in your house until you are ready to fire up the engine. It will be plenty warm. Fire it up within a minute or two and it won't matter if it's 0F outside.

I ran the first tank through it and it ran fine. I would like to dispell any miths about it not starting. Somebody somewhere said he got blisters just trying to start his, I assume he forgot his glow ignitor...lol

Two things to worry about when you're breaking in a motor in the cold.
1.) You have to watch temps. You don't want it to stay too cool. As Coth said, wrap some aluminum foil around the top 3-4 fins of the cooling head to help keep the temps where they should be
2.) Cold air is more dense. So despite the temptation to run the motor lean to keep it warm, you acutally have to run richer than normal because the cold air leans the mixture. Run about 1/2 turn richer than normal
You should be fine. I've broken in a few motors in 30-40 temps and have yet to see any difference with ones broken in during the summer

I just broke in my new Savage X over 3 days, the first day it was 22 degrees, second was 3 degrees, and 3rd was 11. The ambient temp doesn't matter if you can tune the motor properly. Richen everything up and it'll be work great.

It's a cool truck, you certainly wouldn't be dissapointed. I looked atthe Hellfire as well, it's pretty awesome, but went with the Savage X, since it'll just be a basher.

does the lower CG actually work better??

It improves handling by lowering the engine, so it is harder to roll the truck and I think steering improves aswell.

Oh, I don't have one, I was just saying what the LCG TVP's do to the truck's performance. Here it is at Tower http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMCA1&P=ML .

I bought the Savage X over the weekend on Saturday. I just broke it in, when all the sudden it landed in the lake behind my house. Before that, it was screamin' fast. Great truck, that new .25 engine really cranks. You have to be careful though, it does have LCG, but its still a big truck, and if you are going to fast, you will tip. Trust me, this truck can easily get to the point of too fast. I am truly happy with my truck. I just hope its ok after falling into the lake. Oh well. wish me luck.
