I'm a diecast newbie. I think it might be nice to have an article in the magazine with tips on buying and selling both for collecting and for profit.

I am also new to Diecast. I have started collecting 1:24 scale cars. I like
the older models, since I am a baby boomer. I have found a store, near me
that carries some 1:24 scale models. It is Hobby Lobby. I am really sorry,
that I ordered from a popular mail order company. It has been 2 weeks now,
and I still have not received my order. I used no credit card, or personal
check. I paid by cash!

Gerald,

It's great that you have found a local store -- that is a big help when you're getting started. Mail order is still a big part of the idustry, however, and web-based diecast sales are huge, so I wouldn't give up on those methods. The trick is to find reputable dealers -- that is where message boards can really help. Talk with other collectors -- get their recommendations.

A couple other things to keep in mind:

* Paying by cash is risky -- checks and CCs give you more protection.

* Make sure you verify that the car you are ordering is currently in stock and ready for delivery. Often, companies will take back-orders and pre-orders for things they don't have -- and that can mean delays in you receiving your item.
