(Sorry to post this here, but I can't post this in the Monster Truck section, so I'm assuming this due to the new forum code change?? )

I was on HPI's site and I noticed this a while back. Use this link (http://www.hpieurope.com/download/catalogues/2006/HPI_Catalogue_2006_English.pdf) to open up the HPI 2006 catlog. (Use need Adobe (http://www.adobe.com) reader to read this pdf.)

On pages 18-20 it talks about a "Classic" 3.5 Savage. It looks like HPI is replacing the RTR 25, but still no official word yet.

Anyone heard of this 3.5 before??

Well 3.5 cc is a .21
and the first savage had the .21.

The 3.5 is the old .21 Savage (CC to CID). The .25 RTR is going to be replaced but they have not said by what (The .25 engine will however be around for some time as it is the same basic engine (borexstroke) that is found in the Savage X.). I look for HPI to toss out a .32 RTR version of the Savage SS sometime in the future. This would be followed by a .40 kit version. But I think you are talking years before this happens.

That makes some sense since I saw this off the HPI Europe website.
