OK, here goes nothin'......
I have posted a couple times, but it's time to introduce myself and my first plan/scratch build, and explain the title of this thread.
Last year for X-mas, I bought a friend of mine a RTR Grey Thunder to mess around with while I have a Sanibel. I enjoy r/c boating so much, I decided to start building my own fleet, and the first to build is the ORCA. Now I decided to enlargen it to a 4 foot hull not including pulpit. I also wated it that large so I could detail the inside of the cabin and be able to use as rescue boat and catch bluegills and small bass from.
I told him my ideas, and he wanted to start a fishing contest. Who catches the first fish, the biggest, and the most through the season this year. He has tried his rig once already last week, but got no real big bites. He strapped a mini fishing rod to the hull with a regular pants belt. (I was laughing my a** off at that one), but it seemed to "kinda" work.
Well, anyway, I have finished the frames and keel out of 1/4 craft ply, and they are now set. Now it's time to start the chines (1/8x2 balsa) and the planks (also 1/8 balsa). It will be powered with a 12V 550 motor (can't remember brand off hand, starts with an M and has a built in fan) with 2 6V 6.5 amp SLA batteries in parallel for amperage, as long as they aren't to heavy. I'll start getting pictures up when I have a chance if anyone is interested. If anyone has any ideas at all, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for listening, and wish me luck :)
