Right now my stock Savage X has 15/49 gearing. It wheelies uncontrolably out of the hole and flips over if I don't let out. Would going up one tooth on clutch bell gear to a 16T make a drastic difference in performance? It seems like it would be a good setup to just slightly tame the low end and give me more speed. What do you guys think?

loosen the slipper and drive a bit smoother
ease on the throttle when going from a stand still instead of just grabbing full throttle
a bigger clutch bell will put more stress on the clutch

even just going up one tooth to a 16? enough extra stress to do any thing? my truck actually came with an extra bell and it's an 18T......

16T will be fine. Get a vented one to keep temps down.

thanks, that's what I was thinking.
something like this (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLST8&P=ML), right? does dirt get into the vented clutch bells?

Centrifugal force would spit it back out if it did. That should be fine.
