well, im getting a savage x (don't know when)
and i plan to just....completely hook it up
i want to start off with durability and then get some hp and then increase both of them
so, what should i start off with to make it more durable? rpm arms?
and how strong are the turnbuckles?
after i get the truck a little more durable, what upgrades would add hp? a nice exhaust pipe
i won't be looking for a new motor for a while, but im open to any suggestions
thanks

You are going to be bshing right? Eventually I would look into a new chassis. The stock plates are just too thin, good aftermarket lcg plates that are around 4.7mm thick. Look into FLM http://atomrcproducts.com/savageproducts.html or Twisted Toys http://www.twisted-toys.net/ . You should probably look into a new radio and a good high torque steering servo aswell. Get some new wheels and tires once the stock ones wear out. There are also a number of different mods that you can do to make it more durable and perform better, like the mid-tank mod, and even LST shocks!
As for performance a good tuned pipe would be good. I hear THS makes good pipes. The HPI polished tuned and ribbed pipes are good aswell.
Also, if you want check out these sites they are very helpful...... http://savageracer.com/ and http://www.savage-central.com/
Have fun!

those suspensin arms on atomrcproducts...will they EVER break?
b/c that would be a good deal if they didn't, then just replace the turnbuckles, b/c something will give in a crash, right?
i've heard about the mid tank mod, but im not sure exactly what it does, so what does it do?
i've also heard about 3-speed tranny, how much power would this add to the truck?

I don't think that the FLM suspension arms will break very easily, they are very good quality aluminium and look quite tough. But, if they do break I believe that FLM has a lifetime warranty, but you might want to check on that.
The mid-tank mod moves the tank into the TVP's where the radio box goes. Generally you use a MGT tank or a 1/8th buggy tank. It balances out the truck more so that the weight isn't all in the back of the truck, and it makes it handle a little better aswell. It also protects the tank from any hard crashes or debris that you may hit.
The 3-speed tranny gives you better acceleration with the stock gearing. I'm not sure how much extra power it gives you though.
