Does anyone out there own or ever run a Thunder Tiger SSK 1/10 scale monster truck. This was my first nitro monster truck. I bought from my local hobby dealer almost 2 years ago now. It ran fine the first few tanks, then the rear diff stripped out, always the pinion gear, just ground down. Dealer said is was where it would jump a little bit and I was holding the throttle open and the tires would grab and put extra stress on the diffs. Anyway this happened more times than I can count, the clutch bell has burned up 3 times, spur gear has shredded a couple times. Of course I have lost screws, but I blame myself for not locktighting. I mean I backyard bash this truck of course. It is fast and fun as hell 'when it works'. This last time I give up on it. Just replaced both diffs, went over everything with fine tooth comb. Did nothing more than run up the yard and back at full speed a couple times, everything seemed fine till the last tank I was gonna run, started hearing gear grinding sounds and when I brought it back, clutch bell gone, spur gear shredded, rear diff gone. I mean maybe if someone makes some more durable parts for it I will give it another try but this is just the last straw for me... anyone want an SSK for parts... I also have 150$ worth of spare parts for it...
I mean yea, I know noone has seen me run this but I can assure you that all I do it drive it up and down the yard, in circles and the occasional small jump, it doesn't jump very well anyway. I beat the hell out of my MGT and have never broke anything on it... yet... ;)

soudns like a "friday" truck. Built on a Friday. I had one, a Kyosho nitro, didnt matter what i did, it broke something. A nitro Tracker, it literally broke a driveline part every time i ran it more than 1/2 tank. Total crap, ...However, picked up one CHEAP for parts, and ended up swapping, get this:, the engine from mine into the parts truck...ran great, no problems. Go figure.....
hope you figure out your gremlins, sounds like something is out of line...or your engine is shifting under torque.

shmeh, sorry I only now realized I should have put that I have the SSK v2. Your right though I can only find the v2 manual also. I have had good luck dealing with Thunder Tiger's subsidiary company ACE HOBBY. I would try sending them an email and see if they can help.

Hey z-man, thanks for the reply. I think you are right, definately a "Friday" truck for sure. It just sucks it is so hard to get parts for it. If I could find a diff or clutch that would work from another popular truck that would fit I would be set but have had no such luck as of yet. I haven't even bothered fixing it yet, bought the Jato 3.3 and have been having a ball with it, just sick fast!!! Also my MGT 4.6 is still running strong!!!
So what are you into/running?

cheers for that, i'm just looking for a list of hop-ups/spares so that if anything breaks i can go to my not-so-LHS and they can order stuff for me, but i can't do that without the part numbers
