on my 3rd start trying to get my new savage x motor broke in the roto start stopped working. I think a gear is bad inside. I can hear the motor running but the shaft wont turn. Either way I was wondering if I could use a cordless drill in short burst to get the motor running so I can finish the heat cycle break in?
Thanks

you should be ok .. set the clutch low on the drill if it has one, or just take it easy

Just remember to put drill in reverse else it will not work as roatas work backwards and do not set tork on drill up to high.As using a drill you cannot tell when engine is hydrolocked or not as it gives you no indication like the rotastart does

my drill doesnt have enough nuts to go fast enough to start the thing. Guess I will have to wait to call HPI.
Side question, shouldnt there be a nice stram of smoke comming out of the exhaust when it runs? I had the X running 3 times for about one minute and a half each time but no smoke. I have double checked to make sure the piston works freely and it does

If you are running in of truck there should be a nice stream of smoke from truck as this means it is set rich which it should be for running in.
Even after run in there should still be a slight band of smoke left behind as if not it means the engine is running way to lean and all you are doing is shotening lifespan of this engine

should my truck glitch when I insert the roto start? It seem when the shaft touches it makes the steering glitch a little. Am I missing something with a ground?

Yes when you put rota start near or in you will get glitching as it is caused through meatal touching meatal and nothing to worry about.
If you put a meatal screwdriver inside the engine head it will do exactly the same metal touching metal
Hope this clears a few thing up for you dude
