I want to make my mgt handle better. I've customized the suspension to lower the truck. I wanted to know if they make extended a-arms for the mgt? Does the upgraded servo saver kit make a big differance? I'm trying to make it race competative and I'm having a hard time keeping up with the revo's.

The factory team bell crank will help alot with turning. It is metal and has ball bearings instead of bushings. What did the custom suspension consist of? I put RPM a-arms on mine and it makes it lower, and it seems wider. Have you adjusted your two speed yet? If not, make it so it does not shift too soon. You want it to rev out more, so it's not shifting into second on the short straights.

I have gotten a new .28 to replace the TTR 28 in my MGT. The mounting holes on the engine are spaced apart wider than the TTR engine. What are most people doing to install other engines with this problem. The holes are much wider apart so I really can't open the holes up on this new engine. Help Help???

I'm replying to my own post. I just looked at Team Associated's site and looked up the parts listing for the MGT and the picture of the engine mount shows it slotted on each side, so evidently you can mount any engine regardless of mounting hole spacing. How convenient. No drilling or opening up of holes. That Associated company thinks of everything.

I have an Axial .32 in my MGT and it was a straight drop in. From what I have seen, the older .21 size truck had the non-slotted mount, but the .28 is slotted.
For jumping, there's nothing you need to do right away. Once you blow the shock caps off you will want to do a shock upgrade. But why bother doing it before hand?

MGT owners, Good and Plenty said the old 21 MGT's had a motor mount that is for the TTR 21 only, so if I want to replace the 21 with a newer, bigger 28-32 engine, I will need to order the new motor mount that is in the newer 4.60 MGT's, Am I right about this? When you bolt an engine to this new slotted motor mount, do the screws just self tap themselves in? Also does the flywheel, clutch, and bell go right on the newer 28's with no problem? Any adjusting need to be done to make it fit properly? Thanks for the help.

I have one other question, What are some of the good MGT forum sites to visit and converse with other MGT owners? Thanks.

There's an MGT forum right here that's real good...under the vehicles section. You can also check here:

As for the mount, the one from the 4.6 should work fine. The one on the .21 fits some motors..and not others, it's just weird like that.
As far as the clutch set-up, it should all work fine. However if it's the clutch bell from the .21 model you're going to want to get a smaller one. You won't be able to keep the front wheels on the ground if you use the stock .21 clutch bell

The flywheel and clutch will fit on without any problems as the pilot shafts on engines of this size have been standarized. You may need to shim the front or back of the clutch bell, but you would have to do this with any engine. Just make sure it does not rub on the flywheel or have too much end play. The 4.6SE motor mount is slotted and uses lock nuts to secure the engine in place. I'm currently running 18/49 gears with my Axial .32 and wheelies are not a problem as long as you setup the rear suspension to squat a bit under acceleration istead of just flipping over on it's back. I have a 46T spur that I want to try next to see how fast I can get it on the top end. With the 18/49's, I have to slow down before trying to turn or it wants to try rolling over on it's back. Who would have thought that you could have too much speed? :)

Thanks to all who replied. Good-n-Plenty, is the 18/49 bell/spur gears the stock ones that comes on the 4.60? I think they definitely went up a tooth or two from the .21 MGT because of the added power and torque. Thanks. I have come back to edit and add to this. I looked it up and the stock bell and spur on the 4.60 is 16/52. They went up one tooth on the bell from a 15 to a 16 and kept the same 52 T spur. Am I right about the increase on clutch bell gear to a 16 because of added torque and HP of engine? Why did you decide to go with 18/49 combo for the 32 engine? Thanks.

I want to see how much real life (not dyno) torque the engine has. If the truck will accelerate the same, or very close, as stock gears yet pick up top end, then I will be able to better harness the added power of the engine. FWIW, I noticed extremely little difference in acceleration with the 18/49 gears compared to the stock 16/52's. Top end speed is definately better though. Next up is to go with 18/46 :)
