Here I go jinxing myself again. Talking about how I haven't ever broken my MGT 4.6SE. This weekend I managed to shred the clutch and the spur gear. I guess I was a little too hard on it trying to climb a dirt hill. Anyway, what is the best performance clutch and spur gear combo recommended? I actually would be willing to sacrifice top end speed for some more low end climbing torque, provided it wont be too hard on the motor.
Thanks for any recommendations... part numbers or links to parts would be great... :)

Those should do you just fine. I haven't heard of shredding a spur gear from climbing a hill though. I do that all the time with mine and never had a problem. Are you sure the mesh was right, and that the screws holding both the motor to the mount and the ones holding the mount in place were threadlocked? If not they have a tendancy to loosen up and let it move around which'll eat a spur real fast. But you ate a clutch bell too, or the clutch itself?

Upon further inspection, both the inner bearings for the clutch bell are completely destroyed, all that is left is the outher shell of the bearings. The clutch shoes seem to be intact and the clutch bell did not warp and seems to be in good shape also. I guess when those bearing exploded the clutch bell was no longer centered but had enough grip to shred the spur? Anyway I guess just that spur and maybe some good bearings for what I have left will work.
Thanks for the links, that helps alot!
What about the actual clutch shoes, is there anything better or should the stock setup work now and in the future...

Personally I'm going to be running the Werks Racing clutch with the carbon shoes. I had it with the rulon shoes and didn't like it so much because if it got wet they'd slip like crazy so I took it off and replaced it with stock 'till I can spare the extra $20 for shoes. It's a real sweet set-up though, and much stronger than stock because the load is shared by twice as many shoes

the stock clutch shoes work fine but the spur sucks, get a robinson slipper clutch and a stock replacement clutchbell and you are good to go :)

Just want to make sure this is what I need. A little pricey but very cool none the less.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKLB1&P=7 and I'm assuming the new clutch bell comes with new bearings? Sweet, thanks for the help!!!

ok so the clutch bell doesn't come with the bearings. Any suggestions on that, I mean perhaps better than stock?

There's no need to get a metal spur. Just imagine what would have happened if you blew the bearings like that and the little plastic spur didn't strip. 100% of that shock would have gone through the tranny and diffs and you could blow something in there. Then, instead of paying $3.50 for a gear you're talking upwards of $30. Not worth it. Spurs are meant to be the weak link. And what makes you say they suck? I'm on my third one now and the only reason the other two were chewed was because I didn't threadlock the motor-mount screws so the meshed got screwed up after a few tanks
Also, look into this:

Little on the expensive side but well worth it
