:) Iam new to running boats and I have alot to learn. I have a traxxas nitro vee and a Dolphin nitro boat also. Iam working on breaking in the engines but due to the beautiful weather here in Oregon it has been storming alot! It is going good thou. I was hoping to meet some other boaters in Oregon and would be greatful for any info on clubs in oregon and Washington? Also I was wondering what would be a good oil or grease to apply to the drive gear or drive line?

You need some hands on help. Check out the R/C Unlimiteds website for their schedule. I know they will be holding a few races in the Vancouver/Portland/Battleground area. These guys knnow what they're doing, so that would be the place to ask questions. The website's address is www.rcunlimiteds.org

I use 80W gear oil for most of my boats' drivelines, but they are mostly wire drives. After a day's run, make sure you dry off all the exposed parts, and spraying them with WD-40 or similar water-displacement product is not a bad idea. It is best to remove the drive lines after every day's run to prevent rust.

BTW, don't expect that .15-powered Dolphin to hit anywhere near the 65 mph the adverts suggest. 20-30 mph is much more realistic. It's a nice boat, but it is not a race boat.

You can also contact Bill Blackwell at Blackwell Racing Boats, he's in Portland and has a lot of R/C boat experience. billbwell@aol.com
