Just finishing my first wood kit and have some questions from the experienced folks.... The hull is birch plywood. What should I any gaps with and what type of paint should I use? Also, do I need to do anything to waterproof the inside? Thanks, Jeff

When i made by first wood boat i just used a wood filler and then sanded it. As for paint I used an enamel paint.

I didn't water proof anything inside. I just made it so that water cant get inside. but it might not be a bad idea to varnish it or something.

Fill the gaps with 30 minute epoxy. Apply either epoxy finishing resin or fiberglass resin to both the inside and outside for waterproofing. You might need several coats on the exterior to get a good base for painting. Paint is up to you. I've had good luck with enamels, lacquers and acrylics.
