You need to consider what the normal water conditions are where you plan on running are, is a fuel type engine legal to run at this site, how much experience do you have with boats?
If you have glassy water(or close to it), a hydro is an option. Otherwise, stick to the Vee
Many lakes have rules about not allowing a fuel powered boat, so you need to investigate this before you buy something
If you haven't run a boat before, a hydro isn't a good choise, stick to the Vee

Are you planning on racing or just messing around? Most clubs have buoyed race courses, where the boat goes clockwise around the course (making right turns only). If you plan on doing lots of turning in both directions a cat or monohull is a better choice than the hydro.

I'm one of those that likes to go any direction , i've run a inexpensive hydro that one of the motors quit on me (nqd ,not quite do'in it)and started looking into a more reliable and more fun for farting around and posibly some fun racing , the cat looks like a viable option and has a pretty cool look (aggressive). can the cat be run in different water coditions? If so then that may be a comprimise for me .What speeds does the proboat run at ? That is a nitro boat correct? Thanks for the reply, happy boating

EP hammer , today I'm going to give'er a go, and see what kind of beating that this boat likes and doesn't like. The reviews said that this little boat after adjustments are made is quite fun and is stable even after jumping wakes.

Well guys, I have to say that this little ep hammer is a fun boat to play around with. CGBOB good suggestion with the v-hull much more fun than the hydro in rough water conditions.wake jumping and thrashing on this boat was fun ,and it even got tumped by me when i tried to do a slight toss into the water with it. I did a quick check and off to the running agin, good starter boat for $130.00 the 550 motor does a great job .The handling is great for us upgrading to a good bang for the buck boat four chiles
