Hi Guys, i currently run a gtb 5.5r system in my touring car. I need more speed and am thinking of running either a 4.5r motor or a Nosram 4star motor. Does anyone know much about the nosram, or should i just stick to the Velociti 4.5r motor?
I am running only 6cells btw.
thanks

Or be it, any other suggestions of brushless motors that will run with the GTB speedie.

I think the 4.5R is a faster then the 4* but I can't remember... I read a recent RCCA article though it said they a 5* was in the works so you might want to wait and get that.

ohhh nice would that run with the GTB speedie?

yea there compatible. Novak and LRP/Reedy (or Nosram as it's called outside the U.S. I guess..) worked together to makes sure that there motors where compatible so there shouldn't be any problem.
I thought lrp only rated their esc for use down to 5.5 turns?
Im pretty sure the 4star is either a 5.5 or a 6.5 turn.
There will be no IFMAR legal motors with a whole numbers of wind as that would mean they would have to be delta wound which is illegal. so you will only see 3.5,4.5,5.5,6.5 etc ;)

I'm fairly sure the 4 star is a 5.5 motor, and that LRP only rate their old ESC down to 5.5 (although the newer one may be different). To be fair though you can run it on 7 cells with the LRP, which will be faster than the 4.5 on 6 cells.

The 4-star is in fact a 5.5 turn motor, but reedy should have a 5-star (4.5 turn) motor soon.

the new Sphere Comp is rated down to 3.5 turns and the old regular Sphere is rated at 5.5. for brushed the Sphere Comp is rated at 5t's and the regular Sphere is rated at 7t's.

Does anyone know if i can run my GTB 5.5 at 7 cells without damaging it?

no the GTB is only rated for 6 cells.

The motor can be run on 7 cells (not the best idea though, it'll probably get real hot, real fast), the ESC shouldn't be run on 7 cells though (although I'm sure it could, because stuff is always over rated, but it's DEFINITELY not reccommended).
The GTB's BL motor limit I think is listed as "none" as well (probably with the fan, as running a 4.5 without the fan is probably nuts!). So maybe we'll end up seeing a 3.5, 2.5, and 1.5!

So the sphere and 4* is faster on 7cells than the 5.5 and 4.5 on 6cells?

I'm going to buy another system and need to know this answer. Can someone help me out?

Are you planning on using the sphere comp or the regular sphere ESC? I'm pretty sure it's not recommended to run the 4 star on the regular sphere, let alone on 7 cells. The regular sphere is rated at turns "above 5.5" and the 4 star is a 5.5. I haven't even heard anyone running the 3 star on 7 cells, I think the 7 cells rating is mostly for 1 and 2 star motors.
If you go with the sphere comp (and give up the reverse) you should be ok even with the 4 star on 7 cells.

are you crazy why do you need more speed in the first place..........

Because "too much" is not enough?:D Hence why some people run 12s motors on 4s lipos, or in my case, an HV maxx in a Rusty (still less powerful than a 12s on 4s lipo or 12 good cells). It's all good my friend.

Too much? A 540 8L on 12 matched GP3300 cells in a RWD truck that weighs less than 3KG. Overkill? :D You bet.
If you run a 5.5 on 7 cells your probably very close to the bearings RPM limit. I don't think you'd have a problem though, as long as the motor doesn't overheat.

I want fast because all of my friends run nitro. Now I win most of the time, but I prefer to win all of the time. I want the fastest thing on 6 or 7cells.

On 6 cells, I'd say either the 4star or the 4.5r. Not sure, because I've never ran either. Either will probably kill an ESC on 7 cells though.

well, not to get off topic but think of any others that would do better?

You could go lipo, that would be quicker. 2s 8000mah on the GTB 4.5 is apparently very fast.
To be honest, sensorless offers no advantage over sensored anymore on 6-7 cells, the 380C-6T IIRC is around the performance of a GTB 5.5. If you want balls to the wall performance on 6 cells get a GTB 4.5 combo, or get a Sphere Comp and a GTB 4.5 if you wanna try it on 7 cells.
