Hi I am new to brushless setups and have spent countless hours searching for the best setup. I have narrowed down to choosing the C50 maxx with the Master sport controller. However, I want to use 2 7-cell IB 4200mah batteries but the setup is rated for only 2 6-cell packs. Will this overheat my setup? and what can I do to be able to run 14 cells? also, going from 12-14 cells make a lot of difference? Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated.
Thank you

Welcome to the forums :) To be perfectly honest you could get a better setup than the Hacker equipment for a lot less money. If you can limit yourself to 12 cells Jamie @ www.starluckrc.com should be able to do you a Mtroniks Truck ESC + Feigao 540 8L or 9L motor for around $200. If you'd like to run 14 cells, I think the most commonly recommended system is a Warrior 9920 and Feigao 540 7XL, available from www.rc-monster.com - this setup will be good on 12-16 cells, and will make your Emaxx fly.

Thank you, I am glad to become a member. The only reason I considered the Novak and Hacker setups were because the controller and motor were meant to be used together. I am new so I had no idea which speed controller to use with which motor. Then I would have to decide on the "turn", gearing, and batteries to use.
I will look into the setup you recommended. Will I need anything other parts for the setup? This is what I am looking at now:
2 7-cell IB 4200mah
Feigao 540 7XL
Warrior 9920
Gears?
Drivetrain?
Dean's connectors?
Thanks again

You should try a "L" series like the 9L. It should be a little easier on your equipment while supplying plenty of power. 14 cells in an e-maxx will be plenty. The 9L is going to be spinning 45K but I can only find it with a 1/8th shaft which will not be strong enough for using in a Maxx. Rc-monster has the 10L with a 5mm shaft which should still spin at about 40K and do plenty fine in your truck.

Thanks for the input. What kind of speeds am I expecting with that kind of setup? I know it's still a monster truck and depends on other factors also, but what is a ballpark range?

With the 9l and 12 cells your will deffineltly get 30+, If you have it setup well, u might be pushing 40.
I think this would be the best setup for an e-maxx. I have an 8L it has plenty of torque and power, with the 9L you will get better runtimes, and your equipment will be happier.
I use the 8L with a 4S 8000 lipo in an MRC THunderking, this setup is way too powerful for my outdated car. I know i'm pushing 40 mph maybe even more. I'm forced to drive easy to not break parts.

I think I got the motor/controller/batteries in check...What are the other necessary upgrades?
Yes or No?
1) MIP CVD front/rear/center
2) Deans plugs
3) Different gears
4) Steel Idlers
5) Receiver pack
6) Motor brace
If I am missing anything let me know..thanks

Why would you want an L can instead of an XL? I've been running an 8L on 12 cells for the last few weeks, and don't get me wrong - its power is impressive and very nice, but it gets bad heat issues, bad enough that i've purchased another motor.
As for your list,
1) you will need cvd's eventually but there are better ones than the MIP ones
2) yes immediately
3) no
4) yes immediately
5) your better off with a UBEC device
6) if you get a "smooth can" Feigao definately pick up a brace/heatsink

UE (Unlimited Engineering) probably makes the strongest CVDs out there. They are a little expensive, though.

thanks...they are a little expensive. I think I will just go with the necessary upgrades for now. I have talked to mike at rc-monster and he recommends a feigao 7xl or 8xl so I'm still debating on that or the 9L using 14 cells.

I'd go for the 7XL on 14 cells. You should still be able to use it on 12 cells with great power, or bump upto 16 in the future if you want more.
Personally I've recently purchased a 9XL with a warrior 9920 to run on 16 cells, should be pretty nice.

i read somewhere that the run times are not that great with the 7xl...?

thank you everyone for all the feedback....I have my setup configured and just need to know how good the run times are with the XL motors on 14-cells so I can decide between 7 or 8xl. thank you,

Right now I am running a BK-Warrior 9920 and a 8L motor in my EMaxx and love it. It costs a lot less than the Hacker.

Send me a PM if you fancy a 540C-9L, got a brand new and unused one still in its box.
