I'm new to boating and just got a nitro hammer. I took it out with my dad to try and get it runnning but it didn't go so well. When we put the boat in the water it would go about 5ft and stall. Out of about 20 tries we got the boat to go around the pond about maybe 3 times. If anybody has any suggestions on how to break this engine in please let me know!!!

Is there lots of smoke coming from the pipe? If not then you are way to lean.
You need to open the needle more, til you see lots of smoke when you hit the throttle. Put it in and run it around at 1/2 throttle. Do this about 5 times and close the needle 1/8 turn after each tank run. This is the way!
Also, have extra glow plugs with you, breaking in burns them up quite a bit.

I got my boat running yesterday. There wasn't a lot of smoke coming out of it but you could easily see it. The needle was open a lot though.

If I recall, 3-3.5 full turns open was the right spot to start the break in on mine.
