Hey everyone, I am having trouble assembling my aeromarine strut. It is for a 0.67 hydro and goes through the floor.

I can't seem to get the lead Teflon bearings into the nose piece or reducer bushing. I have tried hammering them between blocks of timber but they still don't want to go. The lead Teflon bearings have a slit down the side which I guess is meant to allow them to be compressed?

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas about getting the lead Teflon bearings in place could you please let me know.

Thanks,
Dominic

Dominic, I taper one end slightly using a Dremel or twisting in a piece of 100-80 grit emory cloth, then I 'push' 'em in by mounting the strut/LTBrg between the jaws of a vise, then cranking in. Good luck. RC

Worked like a treat engineman. Thanks for the help.

Run a 3/16" drill bit through there to make sure that there aren't any bad spots from getting them in or 1/4" if you have the larger one.
