I am planning on building a bl powered rc10gt
NewEra Ultra Chassis
FM Radio of some sort
Orion li-po's/7 cells maybe more later possibly 12 or 2 orion li-po's
speeds of around 50
I was wondering what combo would be best for the truck...and i'll be running big tires as well...prolly masher 2k's all around!

I would suggest stay around 4000 rpm/v for big tires or lower if you want to run 12 cells. For 12 cells, 2400 to 2800 is a better range. For 6 cells, a plettenberg extreme would probably work well. On 12, maybe a Feigao 10L.

I did a brushless conversion with an RC10GT last summer. I used matched GP3300 6 & 7 cell batteries, a Mtroniks Pro controller and a Feigao 540 6s. A lot of the time I also ran it with Masher 2000 tyres. This setup had bad heat problems, 6 NIMH cells isn't enough power to move one with M2K's very fast, 7-8 cells works nicely, I came up with a way to fit 12 cells flat onto the stock chassis for some serious speed runs, but I lost interest in it (discovered the RC10 T2 :) ).
With my setup, the motor would overheat within 2 runs, and the ESC would thermal after 3-4 mins until I put a fan over it. Gearing down helped but I was too used to the higher speed of my T3 to leave it geared that low.
For my conversion I used a custom motor plate out of some aluminium, and for the batteries I had two sets of mounts. The inital design used alloy stand-off's to sit the cells between and secure down with a lexan strap, the second design used RC10 battery cups, that worked better.

ic thanks for the heads up..yeah i figured i'd have to gear down and just loose a few mph in speed but have tons of torque it' have a fan mounted along with heatsink/fan combo if possible on the motor

I suggest 12 cells/4s lipo on the 540 12s motor. It will definately get your truck to 50 mph and it will have more torque than anything on 7 cells.

ho cool

With 12 cells and a 540 12s it will blow just about anything away, you will need to either fashion a custom motor mount, purchase a complete TC4 one (one hole lines up so the rest are easy to get in place), or you could take a B4 motor plate and modify it to work on a GT housing. Not so sure I'd trust that though.
For 12 cells to fit you need to move the steering servo off to the left, and use throttle servo mounts for it. You will need a longer turnbuckle link for it as well. When I did this I didn't loose any steering, and it gave the space for 12 tightly packed cells.

cool that sounds like a plan....i dunno if the tc4 will be enough to handle the motor do you know

well i ordered my parts....now all i need are the 3.5mm plugs and a tc4 motor mount or something similar
thus far i have:
New era dual deck chassis
New era ALU FRNT/REAR bulks
New era ALU FRNT/REAR Shock towers
New era Alu C-Hubs,Knuckles frnt only
Wanderer 12s 540 can
MGM Compro 120amp esc
and i already have a slew of batteries most are 3700's and 3900's

Any particular reason you went with the twin plate chassis?
Btw, there is a guy on here who sells motor plates for nitro conversions (Coldfusion). His plates do NOT work in an rc10gt, the gap for the flywheel is in the way.
If your good with a hacksaw and a drill you can make a mount yourself, thats what I did. Took around 2hrs tops (by hand with a hacksaw, files and a drill).

i am not very good...i want to go to the hardware and get a premade l bracket and then drill hole mounts for motor and such but i also plan on trying out the tc4 mount also i want the dual chassis because it'll be more rigid..and with a dual batt setup on bl it'll have loads of torque you know what i mean....

The stock chassis is actually quite rigid if you have the Factory Team blue one. You can make it even more rigid by fitting additional braces to the chassis in vital areas.
You should be able to buy an aluminium L angle from a hardware shop, and then just drill the holes in. Its not hard as long as you measure it up, like I said mine didn't take long to make, and mine started as a signpost :) If you don't want to get your hands too dirty, try and get all the TC4 motor mount components off ebay..there's some pics of it fitted to a GT on RCU forums somewhere, from around a year ago.

i just won tc4 parts....looks promosing to because it'll have low cg, it's all heat sinked plus i bough a heat sink clamp for mine to go along with it so the motor should run realitively cool....i didn't have the factory team chassis it's the old black tub one....so i figured i might as well get the new era chassis only because i know the dual decks have more rigidty than what i have now...so all i need are connecotrs and wires and deans plugs and i am set to go
