I bought a used boat with a k&b 7.5 and want to grease the flex cable .Is the nut/coller with 2 flat sides that retains the shaft, left or right hand thread.
which is the best prop for this boat it's an older lap cat II and it's got a prather prop on it now looks bronze and polished.
the one on it looks like #230 the spare looks like #235 of #255 not that clear?
I'm using 15% nitro and she does not seem to peak ot under load.Do these engines scream like there smaller brother.
thanks

Left-handed threads! That's one of the first things that I tell first-time outboard owners, that and the engine runs in reverse so they have to the swap starter wires around.
Your spare prop is probably a Prather 235, not a bad one for that boat.
Get rid of the wimpy fuel, only plane and truck guys run that low nitro. Get some 40-50% in there with 18-20% oil.
If you've got the 230 on there, that should be letting the engine wind up so mess around with your high-speed needle.

I have an old Lap Cat II with a 7.5 K & B also. :) Its only a hobby for me and a friend of mine. I run a Prather 235 with 25-30% nitro and it runs very well. The only thing I need now is a tuned pipe. Money is a little tight right now and I have been looking for for a used tuned pipe but no luck yet. I dont have a lot of experience but if you have any questions i will do my best to help. I saw your olther post regarding fuel. I have not had that problem but I did install a hopper tank just as a precaution. If you need a pic of anything or want to send me something my e-mail is johcap2@comast.net.
