Your gearing also depends on if you are running NIMH or Lipos....4.7 to 5.1 with NiMH and Lower with Lipos 4.3 to 4.8.......something like that. The difference is because how the Batteries Drain.:teacher:

Hey Chris, can we put up for a vote with the Mini Cooper racers if we can allow the use of Takeoff RP30 tires? They cost less to buy than the Tamiya 60D and wear a whole lot better, not to mention that they handle better. The only drawback to these tires is that the diameter is smaller so the top end is slower. I think it falls in the keep the sport cheap and competitive category. The tires can be purchased from Nexus racing @ ( http://nexusracing.net)
Mfr Part#: RP30MINI $11.95 a pair. I'm Checking with Alan to see if he is able to order them for our use.

Congrats on the win William! Just remember slow and easy through the turns will produce faster lap times. Same with you Chris L. Running behind you after the main, you just need to let off and let the car roll through the turns. Good win in the B to bump into the A. I had a bad start in the main, my fault. And a brain fart later on, my fault again. haha. But over all, I'm very pleased with my new car. Remember if anyone needs help with setup, feel free to ask me for help. I'm sure Terrell doesn't mind either.

Congrats on the Mini win Manny.

Nice run everyone.

m3ndo5a
01-07-2008, 08:44 AM
It was fun running with you guys. You have all gotten faster. And like Jimmy said calm the cars down through the turns (slow in fast out and 180 is the fastest route in a curve) and it will be serious neck to neck racing.

William you are getting much faster your car seem to be solid.....I will bring out a Fun Body next week maybe a NSX or BMW.

Jimmy you made the TRF416 perform very well.......It is up to running low end running speed of the MEDUSA with only being out at the track twice......I am going to have to step up b/c know I cannot get away a second time like that.........I will run the EVO5 to get the low end speed back next week.

I would suggest as a note. Turn Marshalls/Racers.....if someone Dog is barking at the track and running near the lane.......Someone need to say something....It is very hard to run sight wise.

may have fixed the glitching thing. Only did it (indoor test) when I aimed the antenna at the living room comp.

We'll see...

JimmyMac
01-07-2008, 11:11 PM
Best answer for glitching is to get a spektrum radio! Especially in a parking lot. They have underground cables for the street/parking lot lights. Plus the direction we are looking at is right across the street from the police department. Not to mention McDonalds and somewhere I'm picking up a WiFi signal on my iPhone. So there's alot of interference around.

Where you running brushless or brush motor in your car? Brushed motors can have bad capacitors that will cause glitching. Are you running lipo or nimh pack in your car? If nimh packs, the batteries shrink wrap can be torn and shorting out on your chassis. This will cause glitching. Where is your receiver mounted? Mount it on 3 layers of stick tape away from the power wires. Also make sure you have fresh batteries in your radio. Are you using rechargeable batteries in your radio? If so, switch them out with alkaline batteries. They have more voltage. Rechargeables have 9.6v vs. 12v of alkaline. Just some things to consider. I'll check out your car Sunday and see if I see anything.

SerpentKing101
01-07-2008, 11:25 PM
Asked this question on another forum, and a guy told me to go Spectrum, too. Bah. Might have to get that Nomadio sooner than I hoped. :(

Im running a BL with NimH. No shrink-wrap to worry about. radio works fine in the revo so its not a hardware issue.

Hey making it to the big show (A main) is a reward in it's self. I know I need to slow down, I'll try to do that after I get the shaking part under control. Thanks Will and Tommy for the racing tips to get me there. Chris I have to confess and conceed the mini win to Will. I was being out driven by all of you Sunday, and I wanted to show how much better a tire the RP30 was so I ran them prior to the tire option vote hoping to sway the vote for the use of them. There's no way in Heck I can outdrive him yet, but it shows how much better a tire it was. He ate me up in the straights, but in the infield he had no chance with those D60's. Sorry Guys I won't do it again. Right now the rp30's are on backorder, so I won't run mine until everyone has the oppertunity to get themselves a set. Also, go to www.rc-mini.net to learn about double stuffing the D60 tires. I'll now make my way to the Hall of Shame until I see you on Raceday.. oops I mean Sunday. Also If I have to serve a penalty for my actions on Sunday, I'm willing to accept the consequences. Once again Will and all the other Mini Cooper racers please accept my apology. Whiskey 1 (Manny)

Hey guys sorry I missed out on the race on Sunday, I was at The Track in Maryland. I will be setting up a layout at the WOOD on Sunday, This race is for those getting ready for the Snowbirds. I would like to have a rubber class for carpet......so if you want to try your skills out on carpet bring it on. The Ideal tire for carpet would be Jaco Green or RP30(discontinued) or Tamiya b3's
pretty much any tire will hook up with a solid asphalt setup, Oneway is ideal but a spool work well. Sunday is going to be pretty cold 43*. If you have any question you can email me about the race. If you need tires Let Glenn Know.

We will be running
Stock Foam
Stock Rubber
Stock 1/12
Maybe
Mini Coopers just for fun

fmrc
01-15-2008, 09:12 PM
I was thinking of that myself I will make a judgement call on Thursday if we will race or not on Sunday the forcast has to be a hight of 50 for us to race if not then I might go and race

bigwill
01-16-2008, 04:53 PM
hey buddy just might see you sunday... I will need tires

m3ndo5a
01-16-2008, 06:16 PM
If you have rp30's you are good.....If you are running rubber. If you have a 19 turn or 10.5 motor bring it just in case rubber has to run with foam. Foam is lighter and quicker so we up the Horsepower for the Rubber tires.

For those who want to run foam, you will need to thicken up your shock oil and change the car roll center, other than that that it. Your gear will be done by a Rollout, for brushless around 45mm. Go to gearchart.com to figure out your rollout.

Rubber we use the same set up as outside and pretty the same gear.

As you all may know.....Roar has ruled that 17.5 will be legal for stock racing. 13.5 will more than likely go away or be a class of its own. Lipo's are legal and 10.5 is legal for 19turn racing. I have change my kits to Brush motors
CO27.....unless the everyone is racing 13.5 I have it in the tool box. Since I have change back to Brush motor the Car is so much easier to Drive. I hope to see yall at the wood if the weather is too cold to race outside.

Glenn will have the shop open for tires and such......so come on out.

13.5 is still legal in 19t/10.5 class. Also, 13.5 will be the new Super Stock class in 2009 for Roar. No more 19t. 10.5 will be legal for mod though. Lipos are now Roar legal in all 6cell classes.

Then, when other manufacterers make their own 17.5, then Novak makes another ROAR-legal stock motor BL equivalent. Truly awesome business plan.

Hey guys. I'm selling 2 of my used Orion carbon 3200 lipo packs for $80 for both of them. I'm selling them because eXpress Motorsports now sells lipo packs. So being a team driver for them, I will be running their lipo packs. I will not be in Fayetteville this Sunday. I'll be at Rosewood. Let me know if anyone is interested. FCFS.

You can run lipo there, but you can not run brushless. I'll have to ask them about Roar membership. Last time there you needed to have membership. I'll have to join anyways since I'll be heading to the Nats in June. Anyways, they run rubber tire (any rubber tire), brushed stock motors, and 6cell nimh or lipo. They open at 8am and start racing at 11:00~11:30am.

Hey Chris, The updated Tamiya Series rules are on their website and now has the following changes (PDF version is the most updated one that show these changes):

12. New for 2008: The use of LIPO batteries is now permitted in this class, but due to the battery compartment having a rounded profile, the only legal LIPO for this class is the Orion/Peak 3200 Carbon Edition hard cased pack. Modifying the M-chassis to fit other hard case LIPO batteries is not permitted.
13. New for 2008: All M-chassis cars must meet a minimum weight of 1300 grams.

I've made the changes already to meet the new rules. See ya Sunday

I have one I'm using, but I ordered one Monday from Alan that should be here by Sunday that you can use. I' didn't know until last weekend that they were metric. That's why my T4 transmission sounded so loud 2 weeks ago when we were looking at it. :)

JimmyMac
01-24-2008, 03:17 PM
Yeah, all Tamiya gears are metric 64 pitch and metric 48 pitch. Almost, but not quite fits. Tamiya does, or did make a hardened 20 tooth pinion that would not wear out on ya. But I don't have the part number. I'll have to look it up. From my understanding, you need to stock up on the regular Tamiya 20 tooth pinions because they wear out into shark teeth very fast...

Even have the original box it comes in with instructions.

Also selling my Tamiya TRF415MRE for $200. No spare parts. Comes with spool and front diff. And unpainted Mazda6 body from the kit.

Terrell, I thought you were gonna run 23t against our 13.5 BL?

m3ndo5a
01-31-2008, 08:42 PM
I have not gotten a 23turn yet.....I am not sure to go with Team Orion, Hybrid or Kyosho. By Roar rules 13.5 is now in 19turn territory..........I have to get ready for TCS 19turn and work backwards from there, more so Controlling the torque. I put the TRF416 Special together.......I have a couple of speed secrets to add and my Standard set up. I may race it Sunday. I am trying to keep the Ray off of Tarmac but it so darn pretty and easy to work on

I guess everyone is racing 19t if they are running 13.5????

13.5Bl is DEAD for competition purpose, its the new 21t spec motor.

Who is running stock 27t or 17.5????

It would be nice to get 3 qualifiers in.......

Jimmy you can pick my power plant.

Anyone look to upgrade.....

Roller: TCS EVo5 for $200
Radio: Ko Propo C2 Limited $325

JimmyMac
01-31-2008, 09:15 PM
Actually 13.5 is the new SuperStock for 2009 and 19t will be dead. Or you can run it in mod class. But for 2008 the 13.5, 10.5, and 19t will be SuperStock. 17.5/27t is Stock. Of course Fayetteville is just a club. So they run by whatever the club wants. I'm up for anything. If you want to run 19t this weekend, I'll toss in my 10.5. Just let me know.

m3ndo5a
01-31-2008, 10:13 PM
Bring your 10.5...... As long as there is a K.Dragon it will never die.......I will start running modified this summer......4.5 maybe.

But I will run what everyone else has..........

JimmyMac
01-31-2008, 11:01 PM
I'm gonna run Pro10 whenever or where ever I can.

m3ndo5a
02-01-2008, 06:11 AM
I will have my 19t in at the track....I will bring a C2Pro 19t if anyone else would like to run.......

Anyone wanting to run 19t I will have a motor someone can use......Note your Car must be set up with no tweak.........The torque is unforgiving.

fmrc
02-01-2008, 07:16 AM
we found out that a spec motor 21t is aboput the same as 13.5 and thats what we are going to allow in our "stock" class

m3ndo5a
02-01-2008, 01:20 PM
Its not the same, because of the Timing......It will be much slower, its compared to a BLACK Can with alot more torque. Unless its 20 turn(once known as 21turns) Stinger......They are like Johnson can but with alot of time....they are pretty quick...but not enough to run with a 13.5..or not enough torque to pull out of corners.

A 23turn Pro would be about the same as a 13.5 because of the increase timing.

If there was a spec class yeah 21t would be the motor to run.....but tires, battery, gearing and bodies should be the same..........SPEC.

JimmyMac
02-01-2008, 02:45 PM
Do you know what 21t spec motor he's talking about Terrell? Just curious. I know Prince/Roche is selling a 11.5/23t equivalent motor.

fmrc
02-01-2008, 03:43 PM
the trinity spec motor is what was run last Sunday and it was verry comparable to the 13.5 when it is geared right

m3ndo5a
02-01-2008, 06:25 PM
Trinity Spec....from the T Spec cars..........Its actually a 19t motor with adjustable timing, for the wire is wrapped around the shaft 19 times......So it good to hear a 19t motor is getting out performed by a 13.5BL...........I would like to test that theory with the K Dragon or C2......maybe that 13.5 is stronger than I thought?????

http://www.teamtrinity.com/shop/item.asp?item=SS2226

SerpentKing101
02-01-2008, 06:35 PM
If someone's up for it, they can run my Integy KOS. Its a 27T, but feels just as fast (to me) as my LRP 13.5. Just would like to see how it compares to all these motors listed above.

Not Roar-legal, apparently (didnt see it listed), but then again its no worse than these 19-turns in a stock class.

dawg29
02-01-2008, 06:47 PM
So What's The Deal, Ya'll Gonna Run 19 Turn With 13.5?. Chris If You Were Talking About The Motor Ernie Was Running Sunday, It Was Leaving My 13.5.

fmrc
02-01-2008, 07:12 PM
the spec motor that is run in ledends is a 21 turn thats what ernie ran in the quallifiers till he tried to turn it and tore the com donnie he ran a 19t in the main since thats all he had with him so the ledgends motor is about the same as a 13.5 from what we tested 19t is way faster than a 13.5 at least a hand wound adjustable timeing one is sety at about 25 deg so one at about 10 deg might be about the same

Hey Ya'll, Had A Blast Today! I Apologize For The Little Drivers Meeting Topic. All I Wanted To Know Was What The Deal Was. Couple Of Weeks Back I Was Forced To Take My 19t Out. Fortunately Mr. Tommy Let Me Borrow A Motor. Preparing For This Race I Was Told 19t Would Be In A Another Class So I Stayed With The Majority An Ran 13.5. That's All I Said For Those That Thought I Was Crying. But Hey I'm Just Out There For Fun An I Had Plenty Of It Today. But Before I Pay My Money To Race, I Want To Know What's Going On! THAT' ALL. An Chris, Here's How You Spell My Name, Donnie Oxendine. Ya'll Have A Good Week An See Ya'll Next Weekend!

JimmyMac
02-03-2008, 09:09 PM
No problem Donnie. I understand where you are coming from. I apologize too. I thought we would be run in a separate class. But I guess not. I did put in my 13.5 for the main. I have decided to only run 13.5 in Fayetteville. This way there will be NO confusion as to what I will be running in my car. Perhaps we need a drivers meeting before the racing starts like the track used to do.

Good run Will. Sorry your car broke in the main. Would have been a good run if it hadn't. I will bring the M11 with Spektrum Pro with me next weekend.

One suggestion if the sun bothers everyone on the drivers stand. A simple solution would be to just move the drivers stand to the opposite side of the track. This way the sun is never in our eyes. Oh, another suggestion. To help those who broke their cars on the sharp corners. Instead of using PVC elbows for the corners, you could heat up a section of long PVC pipe and bend a very nice long 90° curve. You could use a portable oven/heater coil thingy... haha. Or a propane torch. I didn't break anything today (although I did an awesome cartwheel past the front straight and into the grass haha). But I saw a few that did. This should also help in cutting down on the broken PVC piping. I know Ernie went out a few times during the racing hooking and drilling the corners back together. He almost lost a few fingers doin it.. :D

Anyways, had fun. I figured out a few more things on the 416. Hopefully Terrell will bring out that XRay next weekend and school us all. :D I wanna compare the performance.

Catch yall soon.

Once again I apologize for any confusion on the Super Stock motor.......It was to not used for cheating or trickery purpose.....Yet for testing and what we thought was going to be a Superstock class.......

My car was not looked over good for a Super Stock motor in the First place...

Unglued tires.......Note for anyone...always check your side wall tire to make sure they have not come unglued...this will make you car very loose coming out of coners or under heavy acceleration...... Make sure all screws are nice and tight.....never use a homemade spool with high torque motors and Check over all radio setting(servo mostly).

I may not need to bring out the 008.......I think with the corrections that I made.....The car will be totally different....But I am tempted to run the 008 for I will getting the Upgrade part.....making it even better yet. Great for MOD!

I have some Kits for sale if anyone is look to have a Second car for race a different Class

AKA the MEDUSA My07.....I have parts for it and I uses Tamiya or HPI parts.....its a very fast acceleration Kit and super fast corner speed....Super Light Chassis......so weights are needed...unless you are running MOD.

AKA Tamiya EVO 5...............Shaft......great scot man, you have seen it in action.......

I have some more battery pack for sale.....

Hey Tommy, I took my old spool out and replaced it with a new one, it's still good if you want to run it. Also If any of the out of town racers can pick up a couple of sets of Mini Cooper 60D type A slicks and bring them to town, I know we need them here and I'm willing to buy 2 pairs. (4 ea.) I think William needs some too. Thanks.

Guys indoor race Saturday Rosewood......keep your set up the same. Carpet with rubber or foam.......there maybe a big crowd so come early. The track layout up will be simple, big gears is a must.....Go with the lowest rubber tire you can find......and soak them early.

Nice work Will......I decided to do some testing at home today......and it was worth it....I got to learn my kits a little more better. This was the first time I drove the Ray without interuption of performance......this kit is so sweet. Got the TRF416 bugs worked out......... Jimmy is trying to get some of his team mates out there........So polish your skillz.

Okay TC5 racers, here is that battery lipo tray/holder I said I would link up for you guys... http://www.diggitydesigns.com/

And here is that link to the stainless steel lipo plate I have on my car. Made for TC5. But fits many other cars as well. I slightly modded it to fit my 416 as yall have seen yesterday. http://www.ppdbillet.com/RC_accessories.html

Also, they can work together as one unit! They are working on this project together even further for the TC5.
