Thanks! It works now. Good luck to you. We started a Parking lot Race Club last year, and have a blast. So far this season, we have been rained or snowed out 4 out of 4 times.
We found that using 4" PVC sewer pipe ($7.00 per 10' length at Home Depot or Lowes) that we have ripped in half on a table saw works great, and sits flat on the ground because of the "U" shape. We also cut 16" diameter dots from 1/4" masonite, attached a piece of 1"x2"x6" pine to attach the pipe works great for the dots at the end of a piece of pipe at a hairpin. Use a router to chamfer the edge, and the cars ride up over the masonite... pait them orange for visability.
We also ripped the 4" pipe fittings in half for connectors..... Tees, 45 and 90 degree elbows. Use sheetrock screws to hold everything together. I can haul the entire track layout of pipe and fittings in my old Bronco II, with the pipe on the roof racks.
thanks for the info we hope to grow this to become a great time for the family and a place for racers to get there fix

Anything for monster trucks? That's all I have right now. :(
I'll be sure to check it out, though. I live only a couple miles from there.

We try to encourage more family involvement. Anyone 15 and under races free at our Parking Lot races. We run a class of 2 cars to encourage people to come out.

about that 2 in pipe, Home Depot has these 12 foot lengths for 6-7 dollars. I have a lifetime supply of drift tires thanks to them. :D (but no-onroad to use them with...i miss my tc3)
yeah the monster trucks will run in the run what you brung class
unless we have enough to make a class 3 or more
our 1st race is this Sunday at 4 pm track will be set up at 2:30
OldSkoolRCRacer
04-24-2006, 05:46 PM
We get the lighter 4" pvc pipe in 10' lengths, rip it in half lengthwise, and get 20' for $7.00. Besides, the "u" shape gives it more stability than a round piece.

Do you guys have a scoring system? There is a free download available at: rctiming.com
The program is called LapsFree. we use it manually, with keyboard number imput, but it is also compatible with AMB transponders and loop systems.
thanks but I have auto score but we wont have power this week and will be using it manually as soon as we get power
Where do you race at?

LOL! I used to live in that neighborhood by there!! haha... FoxFire.... West Over? High School... (never went there, I went to Montgomery Road Elementary School). Used to walk over to McDonalds all the time. Then cross the road and check out the pawn shop and other stores there. Yeah... old memories....

the forecast calls for rain on Saturday, but we should be OK for sunday...
I should be able to make it out again, but dont know if I'll still have my T-Maxx for much longer. I'm trying to sell it to help pay for a mgt or a g2 chassis for my e-maxx.
you need an electric tc man but what ever hope to see you
Have any of you guys raced with us at Rosewood or Durham?

I have been there to catch a few races. I've been trying to get back into racing again. This past week was the first time that I had run my car in awhile. I think that I have the bugs worked out, but I'm not going to get to happy yet. Chris are you still going out of town or has your plans changed?
SerpentKing101
05-05-2006, 12:02 AM
noone wants to trade their TC for my T-maxx... :(
Id probably get some offers if I wanted something like a budget tamiya, but what I really want is a XRAY T1, and I'll kick myself all over again if I get anything less (I traded a FT TC3 to get the T-maxx, wishing i hadnt now. You had to have seen it. it had the IRS graphite chassis, and I replaced all the screws with these anozided blue hexes. All I needed was a pinion for it to run...).
--
I went to Rosewood on a friday a few months ago. noone was out there, but it was a real nice setup from what I saw.
We will be racing this Sun. in Durham and next Sat. in Rosewood u guys should try and join us.
I also have a generator and on the days the Durham and Rosewood are not racing I may be able to come out and help you guys out.
Serpent, I have a RDX I might be willing to trade for a T-Maxx
George
cool George,if you make it that would be great, Also I have raced up there and its nice at rosewood but just looking to do local fun racing (this last carpet oval season took a toll on me) and D no I will still be out of town but I will be able to stop by probobly around 6 I will be there in spirit and on the 14th 1/12th scale and tc I hope Serpent King you will find takers

this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6055549046) is the link to it, and going by how the bids were going, was a pretty decent deal.
I'm so going to over-volt one of those stock motors, maybe I can catch that Jato. :D Just for fun of course, dont plan on doing it too often...
congrats man tcs for this Sun I think there are atleast me and 2 others and if serpentking gets his and skills you have yours thats 5 plus I heard that there were about 4 or 5 people that can by last Sun and sat out in the rain for a while well skills bringing the 12th Sunday too?

I dont expect it to be here until next Monday or Tuesday, but theres a chance it could be here by the next meet. It should be here by next Friday at the very latest.
Meh, right now I have a car in the mail, and a E-maxx that needs many screws to be put back together. I'll still be out there, though.
Oh, and I havent talked to my neighbor about that trailer. Probably because his dogs tick me off. But there is a Tractor&Supply Co. down the road that has some for 499-799.

I'm going to have to figure out out to keep my E from flipping over (get it to slide like that electric LST). that, and play with the XRAY and find a Mazda 6 body for it.
I wasnt the "champ" this time, but hey, I had fun.

I got it handling better now, only time it'll try to spin is if I get the car upset with a wild slalom. But is it fast enough? who knows...
Now to get this E-Maxx from flipping...
From what I hear there should be a full main in electric tc this week if not 2 mains I can't wait

They were smooth, but can be a whole lot better. Does anybody know anyone selling a speed controller cheap. I'm trying to get my friend Jonh into electric tc. the radio I have is from a RTR (TQ3)
When its in my E-Maxx, its OK, but as soon as I switch over to my x-ray, the range is less than a quarter of what it was. no idea whats going on.
Graphite is the problem well you might need to change recivers becouse all I have is 75Mhz so that would be the problem I think its the recciever getting interferance from the chassis

would a FM radio help it out? because I just might be able to get my dad to buy me a MX-3S.
I just might be able to get around the track without glitching if I stand as close to the track as I can, and run a very tight line on those far away corners.

going to be hot tommorrow, even more than today. <-heat waves
I just might be able to buy a used synth radio, after the yard sale today (of course, after I sell the POS TQ3 I have and that stuff in my thread, which I can sell locally if anyone wants it).
oh yeah about that motor I smoked, seemed i burned off the tag that tells what kind of armature it is, and blackened some of the coils. If anyone wants it, just ask. It might have some use to it, as it does work (goes half as fast and heats up twice as quick, but works)

might be on to another good ebay deal...we'll know by tuesday...wish me luck, again...
cool dude I haea hitec AM you can use tomarrow and do you need to use a motor if so let me know

I'll try out that radio and see if it helps...
I'll use one of your motors if you want, but the leads cant have too much solder on it so I can switch the leads I have on it fairly quickly (they're the trinity no-solder ones)

Had fun racing with everyone. Track was clean and smooth. Layout was very fun. Traction was very good. Car had alot of front bite which made the rear end come around alot. Plus the heat helped with that too. Trying to drive smooth and not being trigger happy helped calm things down. This made the handling predictable. I saw one guy driving the car very good when the motor was slow. Next round he had more speed and ended up all over the place. This should tell ya to slow down!! hehe Remember the saying.. "slow is fast!" And it works too! :D
Well this kind of racing reminded me of the old Chapel Hill days. It's all about fun. I think next time I'll see if Ron Zee will go. He'll enjoy it. Anyways, had fun. Can't wait to come back out again. Thanks for everything Da Skills. L8Rz
Had a great time racing and meeting everyone yesterday. Jimmy that was a blast racing you ;) .
Remeber guys that maint./setup and tire selection are the most important things to have right if you want your car to handle well and reduce lap times.
motor, battery and the top speed of your car are way less important.
George GAAARRRRRRRRRRR
George you are right I started to get the handle on the car for the main but still didn't have it oh well I have only raced like 5 times in 6 months but I will get it going again I think well I want to thank everyone who came out yesterday and remind poeple that the club is only as strong as its members can't believe we had 24 entries wow its getting big but we need more members so that we can get the things that are needed for the track

A large group of these guys are coming to Rosewood in 2 weeks. Should be pretty fun!
This parking lot is a good test track for setting up a car that oversteers tons and tons. I think I only heard one car out there that didn't squeel it's tires around the track. I think it was Mike's car. My TA05 was drifting every turn during the first round. I took the spool out and tossed in a diff up front for the 2nd round and it was alittle better. But I could still hear the tires around the turns. Next time out I'll bring my Cyclone and see if I can set that up for this kind of situation. I have some idea's I would like to try out...
Anyways, had fun. Even though it was hot! Catch yall in 2 weeks...

Plus many other hopups. Anyways, have fun tomorrow. Remember... slow is fast!! You gotta remember to let off the throttle 10 feet before the turn!
what full throttle all the way baby if not you wont brake parts then hobby shops will go out of biz well I cant wait till tomarrow then sat it off to Rasewood to get my tail kicked in we may have the FMRC main HAHAHa I think there is 6 or 7 going up there next week gotta find my personal transponderits here somewhere

How is the track for nitro cars? Just watched the video and the layout looks a little tight.

It is pretty tite for nitro cars. Gear it low if ya bring it. You'll need 35s all the way around. If not 32s or 30s for the rear. When the track gets hot it gets kinda slick:)

nice video, hopefully I'll have my car together this weekend. I just had a little nitro bad luck.
well we had The club meeting last night and things that came out of the meeting are
elections
race director (in charge on race day) Chris Sweatt
VP Herb O'laughlin
Pres Chris Crowder
also we voted that the trophey (July 2nd only) race entry fees will be
$5 for members
$7 for non members
gas races will be 4 min not 6
there has to be 3 cars in a class to have the class
sign ups end at 3:30 drivers meeting at 3:45 first race at 4:00
5 min between each race if your not there then the race will start with out you
we are working on something that I don't want to mention but it will be awsome

more bad ideas...
for the nitro touring cars, if the lap times arent too quick, have them run a half-oval. they can go wide open and skip the first set of corners, then take them run through the second set.
could use the same layout if a elec mod class comes about (where those guys running the brushless should be anyway)
JimmyMac
06-23-2006, 09:41 PM
If I ran Mod Electric.. I would rather run the same layout as Stock. Just because you have Mod doesn't mean I wanna run wide open everywhere. That's why you have Oval class... Just my 2cents. Also, you won't learn how to drive a touring car if you take out most of the turns....
Also.. for the comment on brushless (limited/spec mode) shouldn't be a problem against stock. I remember a few years back we allowed this. They were fast.. but those of us that ran Monster stocks were still winning against them. Plus we limited their gearing too. You could do the same there as well. Just don't take the fun away from everyone. The club is not organized enough yet to throw in too many rules.
Anyways, hope to see yall both Saturday and Sunday... L8Rz

well, the only reasoning i had for the new layout for nitro/mod is to give the drivers somewhere to wind it out. most of the people that come to our fayetteville meets seem to care about only speed anyway...

I have to agree with Jimmy mac, let em learn to turn, maybe they will learn throttle control. going slow is fast,,,,lol
Da Skills

What people have to understand is that you can only drive a car so fast and be in control. That's the key word (control). Learning to slow down and only go fast where the track allows you to, it will help you improve your laps and lap times.
As for brushless, I have no problem with them. If it wasn't for a few mishaps I would have won against a brushless car. And I was running a Monster stock. So it doesn't matter what you are running, just learn to drive what you have.

i agree with Daskills. running pro-truck off-road, you get to race against a lot of fast technology. what's popular in our class is the LOW turn brushless systems and 8000 or above li-po batteries. all last season i used "regular" batts, motors, and speedos and have been very competitive. (i even led two points races with a stock motor). a lot of guys had too much and was just out of control.
"RC equipment and personalities are a lot alike...it's not what you have, it's how you use it." (ok , so i'm no phlosiphur.LOL) :D

i might need to bring my e-maxx just in case bob doesnt run the monsters. :D

Will I bring my LST????? don't know, maybe, Tasha is supposed to be out of town for the weekend, I might have time. I will be trying out my pan car set up. So if it goes well, I probably won't run monster. That would be a LOT of battery charging.

nothings really wrong with the xray (even though I want to sell it) , its just that I dont want to keep switching out the steering servo every time I want to run a different class.
i just hope none of the e-maxx driveshafts grenade themselves like one did today.
