A question for you outboard guys. I have a K&B 3.5, model 8907 that i bought back around 1996, and it is almost like new. It was used on my first boat, a Dumas hotshot 24". Now my brother is building me a new Dumas deep vee 20, and i will be putting my engine on it, but i am thinking of getting a K&B 3.5cc SS to get more power. Should i just stick with the 3.5 i have, or will the 3.5 SS be much of a power increase?

i'd say stick with the one you have. the performance increase is probably not worth the cost to replace it...especially if it's still in good shape. octura x438 prop oughtta get you goin. i've run the prather vee with k&b o/b for many years and it always puts a smile on my face.

Thanks for the reply. I think i will stick with my 3.5 i have, but i was wondering if a tuned pipe would give it a boost?

Thanks again.

yes, a pipe will increase the performance. if you're sport running, i'm not sure if it's worth the price tag and the time spent fiddling and tuning. plus you have to cut the outdrive down to be able to install the pipe. in fact, the only reason i'm putting a pipe on my tunnel hull is because i already have a cut down lower leg from another set up. my stock 3.5 is a pretty quick motor for sport. not going to win any races with it, but it keeps me happy. although...a piped K&B sure does sound cool :D
