Thank you for everyone who helped and made recommendations for a brushless setup....yet I still have a few more questions below.
Purchased:
Super Brain 977
2 8-cell IB 4200
Plan to purchase in next few days:
Gorillamaxx chassis, extension, motor mount
MIP cvd's (front and rear)
Supermaxx centers
Steel Idlers
Warrior 9920
Feigao 7xl or 8xl (recommendations?)
Need help with these:
Is BEC/UBEC needed?
What gear ratio to run?
Need diff gears and slipper immediately?
Is single-speed conversion better?
Run batteries in parallel or series?
Anything else I am missing?
Thank you

I am running a very similar setup, or at least will be when I have the funds for an FLM chassis. I personally would go with an 8XL or 9XL for 16 cells, I have a 9XL, I've ran it today on just 12 cells, and it gives great torque, with 16 cells it should have some evil top speed as well.
You pretty much need an external BEC. I run one of these with my 9920:

Works great, and gives 6v to the reciever so max servo performance.
I run 20/51 on mine with 12 cells, I plan to run the same ratio on 16 cells as well. I've been told anything between 16 and 20t pinions will work fine.
You should invest in a Strobe slipper immediately, otherwise the slipper will literally melt itself. The strobes a nice peice of kit and in my opinion well worth the money.
I prefer to keep the two speed active, but if you do a single speed conversion it does reduce the rotating mass on the car somewhat, which will give slightly better efficency and less driveline loss.
Definately run the batteries in series, or you'll be very low on power :)
One note, when you hook up the UBEC, remeber to remove the black jumper from the ESC to disable its built-in BEC circuit. Its tucked quite far under the heatshrink, behind the red programming jumper. Oh and I wouldn't go for the MIP cvd's, apparently they're not so good for high voltage. RC-Monster I think stocks some better ones. And you might want to get a longer bodyshell if you plan to run the chassis extensions in.
Finally do you plan to race your truck? If not then maybe you should look at the FLM chassis, its longer than stock, looks just as strong as the Gorillamaxx one if not more so, and its only $90 from RC-Monster.

Thank you for your input....it was exactly what I was looking for. I will also take a look at that chassis since I will not be racing the truck. You have any pics of ur truck?
