hi,
i've been running this motor and a U-Force 75 in my 6 cell, 2wd buggy and love it.
I have a nephew thats ready to switch over to this motor from his brushed motors, but doesn't want to spend that much on a ESC.
does anyone have a recommendations for a GOOD reliable ESC that cost a little less.
Appreciate your help guys,

I use a Graupner/GM Genius 30 with my 380c8t. It didn't cost me more than US$90. I'm having trouble setting it up for proportional throttle though, if I get throttle control I lose brakes!
Good for dragracing down the road though, 100% throttle in an instant :D

Here is a good, low-cost brushless ESC:

Many people use it. Its throttle control is very smooth, and is pretty resiliant. Even if a mishap does occur, Mtroniks has excellent customer service and will take care of the problem quickly.

+1 to Tcolesen's recommendation. The Genesis Sport controller should work, too.

Yes, the Genesis Sport would work. In fact, Mtroniks bundles the Feigao 380 9t (not "C" version) with the Genesis Sport in a combo deal.

i have a mtroniks sport for like 11 months now and it runs my hacker c408s on 2s lipo without getting hot at all.
If you are planning on running a 3s lipo setup with a 4000 kv motor then theres definatly no need to get the pro.

will be running the Fiego 380c 9t on 6 cell, IB 4200mah. high volt packs.
What will the Pro do for me compared to the Sport ?
we are looking for the most performance that can be had.

that is exactly what i've done last month.
i was planning to run 3s lipo so i upgraded my sport plus esc to pro.
dhauch,
if you run the same motor, the same battery, the same car, then sport and pro will be identical in performance, if the sport will handle the amperage of the motor.
1/10th scale, 9t, 6 cells? go with the sport plus.
bigger scale, lipos, lower turn motor? go with pro.
personally i would go with pro from now.
chilledoutuk and b3racer are expert about all genesis esc....

possent said everything that needs to be said, if its 6 NIMH and light go with the Sport plus, otherwise get the Pro. Both are best brought from www.starluckrc.com - but Hobbypeople also stock them for a higher price.
Btw possent I was b3racer, changed my name to what I use elsewhere.
