okay well I finally got my Sphere Comp. the other day so I can now run my Neo 1. I ran it late last night at about 10 because I didn't get everything set up and put together until then and then I was just running a pack threw it today because I wanted to drive it in the light. All of a sudden it started making I guess...... a crunch sort of noise. My first thought was something in the diff but I picked it up and spun the tires by hand and there was no noise. So I took it inside to look at it (hoping it was the motor) and took the motor out of the car and tried to make it run and it made a winey griding noise (while the motor still wasn't really doing anything) then the motor, wires, esc, and battery got REALLY hot. I took the motor apart several times and looked for something wrong and couldn't find anything. The only thing I can think of is if the magnet came loose on the shaft but I couldn't turn the magnet by hand so I don't know. If anybody had experienced this and know's that I'm doing wrong let me know. If it is the case that the magnet came off the shaft then should I just get a Novak motor instead of another Reedy one, because I've never heard of the magnet coming off the shaft of one of the Novak motors but I have a the Reedy. If there's an easy fix let me know as soon as you can because I would like to use my new brushless to race tomorrow.

I would suggest sending the motor and ESC in, and see if you can get a new system that way. That's definitely not good at all. The only thing I can think of is maybe a motor phase shorted out or a hall sensor has gone awry. I think this is a job for LRP/Reedy warranty services (have fun...):D.

Hey Erik,
Bob told me that you have a problem and see if I can help you out. I race with Bob onroad, and I should be join you guys with a mini truck. Anyway, it sounds to me that the magnet on the shaft of the motor has slipped. I have had two Neo motors so far, and both had the same problems. I sent the first motor back, but the second still did the same thing. What happens is with the armature, the magnet (or the windings of a brushed motor) slipped back on shaft (toward the endball), or the shaft slid forward, so the back part of the shaft is no longer riding on the back bearing. The magnet and the shaft suppose to be press fit, but appreantly not tight enough. It is tight enough where you can't turn by your hand, but it's loose enough where the magnet can spin on the shaft when you actually run it in the car. There is really not an easy fix. I had the problem last year, so it looks like Reedy haven't change the design yet. So, I think the solution would be send it back and get a Novak motor. It is really not worth the time try to fix it if you can send it back and get a refund.

Thanks Jerry that's what I figured had happened. Sense my aunt and uncle bought it for me I'll send it back to them and they can try and get there money back or try and get it fixed or somethin. I'm just gonna order a Novak 7.5R on wednesday I think and be done with it, sense I've never heard of them having problems.
Ealry novaks had this problem, I sent mine back and the replacement never did it. I think novak has realised the problem and fixed it. Shame on reedy and lrp for not taking notice.
