Yes, I did read that note, but as fluid as this industry can be, I was just reaching for an answer. Thanks for your moderation of this topic tcolesen.

Some updates, the postman delivered my mamba max 7700 during work hour today. so manage to solder up everything and mount it into my emaxx. geared 72spur and 12t pinion. running on a gp3300 that has 4 cycles, in first gear the power is very good and powerful. but in second gear it does not have enough torque to puch, it stil manage to slowly rev up but i kinda feel that its struggling a little. I ran it without shell and esc temp was around 67celcius. Next i mount the system to a tamiya touring car with ratio 9.49, i throttle to full from idle and notice the car move then delay a little and zoom to full power, why is that so?

some more updates, i think the delay problem was mentioned on the mamba max manual as "turbo lag",tested on the old tamiya touring car ta02, speed was ballistic, acceleration was also ballistic apart from the slight delay mentioned.the esc ran quite cool around 50 celcius, maybe due to running at night. Its very smooth, feels just like brush motor, hardly any cogging at all. overall I'm very happy with the max :)

update for me: I got my 7700 system and raced it last night in my T4. I had programmed it before installing in the night before in bed with my laptop. That was sweet.

I set most of the parameters to a very mild setup... lowest timing, 5v cutoff, etc to make sure it was smooth and controllable first time out. Still had plenty of motor... in fact I dialed back the throttle to 80-85% on the M8.

Runs awesome so far, nice and smooth... and still had enough to lift the front end when it hooked up. :D Didn't have a temp gun with me.... so no #'s to report. Things got pretty warm but not too bad. Fingers would guess @150s for the motor...

I tested the mamba max with feigao 12s motor in my emaxx, running on 12 cells. mounted a 12v fan on it and it runs nice and smooth :) temp less than 55 celcius.the fan does help a lot.

I had posted this in the factory forum but would appreciate anyone's opinion on this

Are the maxamps 6000mah packs rated at 60 amp continuous and 72 amp burst enough for the max? How much better is performance going to be with the 8000 rated at 96/128?

I assume for $10 I am better off with 6000 3s and 5700 then 7700 and 8000 2s, is this correct?

what type of connectors are used between the ESC and Motor? (exact size please - I want to order more for my other motors)

Castle says they are "universal connectors". It seems as they're 3.5mm bullet connectors, as many other brushless motors use.

They are 4mm gold connectors, the same size as the ones that can be bought at Starluck RC.

Those are better known as 4mm schulze connector system CT4.

Typically the 4mm dimension is recommended to withstand an 80amp current rating which seems to be under-rated since MM is rated higher.

Maybe 6 mm connectors would be a better choice since they can handle >200amp current rating??

You're not going to need 200 amp connectors. Average amp draw is more like 20-30 amps typically. The 200 amp spikes do no harm at all.

I am glad to hear someone has run the Mamba Max with 12 cells in a larger truck. I want to put in in a 1/8 buggy with a Feigao on 4S Li-Po. Did you bolt a 40mm fan on?

ok, thanks guys! I had a hard time soldering the 4mm connectors to my feigao 380C-7T motor - the wires were too thick to go inside the connectors.

I was able to solder them anyhow, but I think it would have worked nicer with larger connectors.

I made connectors for the mamba esc with other motors like feigao and lehner. buy 3 male 4mm, and 3 male 3mm, use short wire to solder/connect them , so that i din have to cut the nicely soldered connectors on the motors and esc, performance din suffer either :) and I can still use my uf75 with the mamba motors if needed

great idea! however the mamba max ESC has 4mm connectors already, so are you sure you meant 3mm and 4mm?

yup, mamba max esc is 4mm female, and the feigao/lehner motors are 3mm female also :) thats why the connector has to be males at both end :D

wow, i had problems getting my feigao motor wires into the 4mm female connectors, there's no way I could fit them into a 3mm connector!

my feigao motors all have bare wires, no connectors at all - so I have to add them myself...

Ive got 3.5mm male at my feigao, no porblem with the cable fitting? got a 380c-6t

Hi xhumeka,

The 3,5mm connectors has a larger innerhole at the end were you solder the wires than the 4mm connectors, especially the Graupner 4mm ones. The Orion twisted 4mm connectors has a threaded hole (M3) and are also smaller than the 3,5mm connectors. So it´s actually easier to solder a large 12AWG or 4mm2 wire to a 3,5 connector then the "normal" 4mm connectors. There are some manufactors of 4mm connectors that make them with an enlarged end for easier soldering of heavy gauge wires but I don´t remember who it was.
A thick wire such as the 12AWG or the 4mm2 (11AWG) fits perfectly in the 3,5mm cons.

The biggest and badest goldplug is the 6mm LMT ones. You can mount three 12 AWG wires on the male plug if you like, a hole is drilled through the end of the connector.

What would you guys recommend for gearing with a 4wd buggy. A Tamiya Rising Storm to be specific.
