Hey guys.. srry that im just barging in as a newb but i have a question about me savage 25.. I was driving it today and its stuck in second gear(i have the stock 2 speed) so i figured that i would just adjust my shift point. but then i realized that i couldent find the adjustment because the truck will not roll backward. So should i take apart the trany and clean it out or what? thanks for everything that you reply.

Mine woudln't roll back because the adjustment screw fell outta my 3 speed all i did was grap the spur gear and make it go forward or backward anyway i could to free it then i rolled it around to find it and i got it out with an allen key. Most probably the same scenario with yours.

slow down man, are you a newbie with the truck and nitro rc in all? or just a newbie to the site, but have had the truck/ other trucks for a long time? if you are completly new to the hobbie and the truck is brand new there wouldn't be a need to rip it apart already

Even if there was a problem with the tranny and it sounds to me as if the screw has come out that sets the 1-2 gear shift in place theres no need to take it apart. Just open the hole up play around with the spur gear till u free it and tip the grub screw out of the hole, then put some blue threadlock on the crew put it in and adjust it to your preference or do it the way the manual reccomends.

thanks guys for the reply... and srry about the confusion...i have been around rc for about 3 years(considering i am only 14). I had a old team losi LXT with all rpm parts, a 9 turn double wound motor. and all that jive. But i got my savage about a month ago. Its really not that hard to keep tuned. I mean it it is just a little two stroke motor. but enough with that...i am just a newbie to the web...thanks again..im going to try it rite now.

alright i found out what i had to do....it took me a while but i got it fixed. I had to take the whole tranny apart.. i found the set of gears with the adjustment screw on it and found that there are two like npllie things on the outer ring of were the adjustment srew spins..the screw had loosened tself to much and was stuck inbeetween them hence making it impossible to find it and making the truck not roll backwards....make any sence....it was a tuff job to do though not like my electric to were they are extremely open and easy to work on.

well i went out and ran it today... i am going to take it all apart tonight again and just go over it all...its still stuck in second...and i went to do some hill climin and i made the hill then on the way down the motor would just revv...i stripped out my spur gear...i think the fact that i am always in second gear is putting to much torque on it...so back to the drawing board :(

hey kawasaki rider ya same with me been riding motocross for a long time. Its pretty much just like tuning a dirt bike. but ya u no i was just thinking about it and i adjusted it in but im not shure if i dident do it enough. it could be that it just rattled itself out so far that i need to go in more. so after i do some homework im going to go put on the other spur gear and go try to run it adjusted more..
Abednego- i have a hobby shop about 20 minutes away but everyone there sucks!! like i am sure they know things but they are never willing to help you out, and at a 50 dollar service charge i would rather gather do trial and error like Kawasaki rider said. but really im savin up for a 3-speed anyway so if i cant get it ..no big deal..

ouch, i hate hobby shops like that... my hobby shop is out there to promote the hobby...
i brough my savage in there one day, the engine, gas tank, and all that was off... then said here man i need new clutch shoes and some other stuff looked at, so he was like no problem... i can back before they closed and it was all together with a tune etc and it was only $15 for labour due to the fact it was completly apart and they were busy, other wise if i really need it and i'm in buying hop-ups he'll tune it cuz he has all the temp gauges etc right there. but anyways hope your bashin soon!

It sounds like you need this Upgrade (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000730263&I=HPIC7227&P=K). It fixed my problem.

ok i had the time to rip her apart again...found out some info. while i was looking at the set screw that goes into the clutch for the 2 speed and noticed it wasent in correctly. I took it out to find that the threads were in horid condition...(this explained why i could not get the trany to shift when i adjusted it.) So i took it out and started to thread it in corectly, but unfortunatly the threads all ripped out..so im going to order a new one and a spur gear from tower hobbies.. but i wanted to make sure that i am getting the thing(as in it comes with everything to just bolt it on) part im thinking is right (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDLG6&P=7)
and also should i just go with another stock 52 tooth spur gear?

I have never seen a sav with a 2 speed and a s-25 I have the 3 speed so I cou;ldn't comment on the performance for the spur, do you want speed or acceleration for wheelies and stuff?

ya i was thinking about it last night when i ordered my parts.....the savage comes with a 49t, and the guy i baught it from had a 52 on it....so i still have a extra 52 thats kinda worn out, so i bought a 49.
