I need some help with hooking up my ESC

I have never built a electric plane before and I dont really understand how to hook up the ESC. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think one wire from the ESC plugs into the throttle hole in the receiver, another plugs into the motor, and another plugs into the battery. Then the other servos just plug into the receiver like they normally would. Im just checking to see if im doing this right because I dont want to wreck something by doing something stupid. Thanks
