I've been following the talk about which prop to run on the little miss bud with a straight shaft. I have a y535 on it right now. Works ok but it still cavitates badly when the boat comes off plane. I have seen recomendations for a x435 and a m435. Are either of these props a 3 blader? Will a 3 blade prop fix this problem? I'm a little confused.

the 3 bladed props are easy to identify. they have "/3" at the end of the #. something like this "x457/3" i don't know if that's a real prop, just made up the number for an example. as far as i know most people are getting the best results from the y535. an x435 would have less pitch, you might be able to spin it faster, but i don't know if the extra rpm would make up for the difference in pitch.

I've ordered a M435/3. I am hoping it will help the cavitation problem. Thanks for the info Doc.

hmmm...i wonder if that prop would work on my rigger. i just don't wanna balance a 3 blade. what a pain.

I'm not looking forward to balancing it either. I've only done 2 blades in the past. Any tricks to balancing a 3 blade?

New work project has got me hammered! My 19mth old son keeps me busy & my wife's going to have our second in late July, then i'm done!! :D

Still get my nitro fix, just not as much as I use to before my son was born of course. But that will change again once he gets a little bit older and I can take him to the lake with me. :)

Also bought a new SCALE boat a few months ago, so I tend to get out on that when I have the time. Fishing has been pretty good to me recently & I do want to get my fishing in before those dreaded HURRICANE's make there appearence this summer.

I upgraded on the 7.5 outboards a little....

Well, I say scale that way no one would ask what percent of nitro I use!

Its a booze cruise/fishing vessel! Better? :)

Oh, It has a three blade prop & no I did not try to balance it! HEHE

HJ-
Actually she has been very understanding. Being that she has not been able to go out since I got the boat, that & the fact that I get out once a week too! :D
Her time will come, I just have to tell her every time I come back that "it was ok" . Not that me and my buddies had a blast! :D

We got off subject, sorry NitroH20. :o

So I will say this, I have the Dynamite engine in a similar size boat & I found that a good 2 blade performs better to me. The RPM's are higher, thus better performance. I normally see 3 blades on large gassers that have the tork to spin those large cupped 3 blades where they need to be.

Are you using the correct DI oil?? I have never heard of an Opti going through that kind of trouble.

I have to go and check the parts shelf again but isn't the Premimun Plus regular 2 stroke oil?? I know Mercury makes specific Opti oil.

BTW you guys are lucky that the tuna run that close! The albys never come within 50 miles of the coast here. The yellow tail get a little closer, but we still need a Mexican fishing liscense...
Drop the 2 stroke stuff anyway. VERADO BABY!!

OK the plus is for DI motors, the premimum is not. I still say ditch the oil burners...

Our other boat has a pair of verado 275's also a little finnicky but they do fly!!
Takes 30 ft sportfishing cat to 46knots!! Cant even THINK of turning at that speed!!
I will say it again our tuna fishing here is world class! got 8 fish before 10 30 am this morning! then it went quiet....thats a Bad day!!!

The tarpon fishing, is best in the world here. :D
Then you have the snook, reds, trout, pompano, kingfish, spanish macks, all that make a nice meal.

I like tuna, but me thinks tuna salad would get old quick. Give me some outdoor grilled King steaks, some smoked fish spread, some fresh grilled or blackend anything! :)

Tuna's good too!!! ;)

Keep em bent here on the.......... R/C zone & Fishing forum

you guys actually CATCH them??? i always thought that fishing was just an easy excuse to just get out of the house and chill at a pond and generally relax. can't say i've ever caught much...but i'm definitely in a better mood afterwards. been fishing my whole life, and the BEST fish i've ever eaten is still a Maine white perch. they are yummy yummy yummy.

i think it had something to do with finding the best prop for a 1/12 miss bud. i think a 535 is the ticket. but not being an owner of that hull i don't know for sure.
