Greetings..

Reading the threads here, I found a lot of people really into their RC. Some of the vehicles I have seen have some really interesting modifications.

So I thought I would start a thread for people who had some custom modifications they might like to show. :)

here is my modified RC well more like i machined most of it :D
it has space and mounts for 2 engines, a savage 3-speed transmission,
and LST suspension and steering. it also has a prototype of a hydraulic breaking system, right now you need a good 300+ oz of tork just to move it so its still in the prototype stage. i machined the two chassis plats, transmission mounts, and suspension arms. the suspension arms are mad of 3/8 " 6061-t6 aluminum plate and the chassis plates are mad of 1/8 aluminum plate, its still a work in progress but its almost done!. their a short movie as well (in the movie one of the axle's gave out so it was only two wheel drive at the time.

Thanks for your replies guys!

RHC, that custom of yours is mad. The chassis looks very sturdy. What is the weight like in your Custom ? You mentioned a "prototype hydraulic braking system", now that sounds interesting. I would love to see some pics of it. Keep us posted of the development of your custom. :) Keep up the good work RHC.

Hey, Maxx, what is the condition of your EMaxx now? Is it operational?

the braking system works the same as a every day car or truck, i will get some pics when i get it back. the whole truck with one engine ways a surprising 14 lb
which was way under my estimated 22 lb lol

How does your new braking system compare with the original Savage setup as far as strength of braking and fade? It would be great if HPI designed the Savage center gearbox to allow for a center differential so that you could have front and rear brake bias, similar to 1/8 buggies.

14lb... is that around 6 kilograms ?

Hey chris, yes they are GPM shocks. The ones pictured are standard GPM alloy shocks, I am pretty sure they are made from 7076 type alloy. They work really well, although I would recommend cleaning and refilling the shock cylinders with your choice of oil when you first purchase them. The come assembled.

Personally I would use the "piggy-back" style overflow shocks if you are planning to take your Savage over very rough terrain, or large jumps. The overflow cylinders allow the shocks to absorb compressions better because the oil inside has more room to move under pressure via the "overflow" cylinder. You are less likely to blow your shock caps under extreme pressure.

That said, they still could be improved with the addition of Titanium-Nitride shafts instead of the stock hardened steel.

Man that truck looks awesome I wish I had one of those but it looks so cool I wouldn't want to drive it and get it dirty, man how long did it take to make. Do you have one like it yourself or did you only make one for thae other guy.

The Twin-Engined savage took me about a week and a half to build. Fortunately the owner of the twin-engined Savage purchased mostly all of the required upgrades in order to make his vehicle last. The twin Savage began its life orginally as a brand new Savage RTR with the S-25 engine still boxed. After a Hot Bodies LWB Conversion, Twin .45 engines, and a heap of 3-racing aftermarket upgrades, it became what you see in the picture.

The pic below shows the brand new Savage dismantled during the conversion to the Twin.

As far as my truck is concerned, and preference in general I have chosen to stick with a single engined Savage, it is however heavily modified. If you want you can check out my thread about it. :) ( Link below )
