Hi, I'm posting this for a friend. He's looking for a 17th or 18th century warship. He especailly likes galleons. He doesn't want to spend to much, and wants RTR preferably. Thanks for your help.

Right now theres no RTR-style sailing ships of that kind that I'm aware of; but, there are many regular R/C yachts to choose from. There are kits available; but here again they tend to be expensive and very difficult to rig-out due to the multitude of sails found on these vessels. Another option might be to purchase an already-assembled early sailing ship; however, again price might be an issue.
Would your friend be interested in a current-design sailcraft? Depending on how long he'd like to sail and/or his lake conditions there are several RTR boats he can choose from, including ones putout by Kyosho, Hobbico and others. We might be able to match him up with a suitable yacht yet.
Hope this helps,

Rick Eyrichyea thanks. He asked me this knowing that I was pretty familiar with RC boating and the current models, I didn't know of any boats of the type he described, and bassically told him the same thing you just posted. He's not to conserned about run times, he just says "as long as i could run for about 15 to twenty minutes." I'm not sure of his lake conditions, but I don't think they would be to extreme in anyway. So what boats do you think would be good for him, I've showed him the kyosho seawind, and the nikko mariner and windigo, all of three he likes, anyother boats that would be good for him?

The Victor Model Products V-32 might be a good choice and it comes in a RTR form. You can order it in several hull/sail color combinations and it comes with a nice Hitec radio system. The Hobbico Paradise is a smaller RTR yacht and is available through Tower Hobbies.
