I want to modify my t-maxx but have no clue where to start. Is Swapping to the 3.3 worth the $130?

Stay away from traxxas as far as motors for the aftermarket, o.s. is the ticket for reliable power. Stay away from picco, siro, any itallian motors for a first aftermarket mill., They are real expensive, and real hard to tune. But once tuned they make REAL power.

os.18TZ's are have very slightly less power than the 3.3 but they are very reliable

Way to stay on point. Not.
The 3.3 tmaxx is a very powerful truck. I got to drive/tune one for a customer one day, and it was sweet! To answer your question, the extra $130 gets you the thicker chassis, new plastic in the bulkheads (nice n tuff now!), new transmission (basically the Revo's), the new motor, and the Revo drivetrain. Not bad for $130.

I've had my 2.5 tmaxx for about a year now, and have gone through a couple of 2.5 engine's in this truck with no major problems. In my opinion, I think the 2.5 is a great engine, very powerful and easy to tune and reliable. I just got a revo 3.3 about a month and a half ago and this thing flies once broken in and tuned. Once I got it tuned correctly, I have barely touched the carb settings in about a week, the 3.3 is a great engine and is very powerful

Hmmm best mod for a t-maxx hmmmm for sale sticker on the windscreen? ahahahaha the only t-maxx ive seen that i actually liked is this one I know the owner of this particular truck and HAHA he sold it to buy a LE savage HAHA made the right choice tho. The reason i like this maxx and it is the only one i like is because the chassis seems more full other t-maxxes look bare and i contribute this full look to the prototype TSAIS pipe not sure if it is a prototype anymore but it was when those pics were taken

Yeh it is a nice truck but it is an outdated design and that 3.3 that is posted above the guy that owned it raced it and whenever he bashed with it and got over 3 feet high something broke. Y not spend the ctra money and get a savage LE or a 4.6 or a revo 3.3?

Oh and the t-maxx 3.3 might be worth the 130 more than the normal tmaxx but he doesn't have the 3.3 he has the original and was wondering about a hop up engine he wont get all the extras that u mentioned for the 130 it will cost him for the engine. My bet mate would be to sell it unless u really like it and buy a revo 3.3 or a LE sav or a 4.6 sav or the lst or maybe the aftershock.

I had the fantom pipe and loved it. It made a nice "burble" sound that really set it appart from other pipes.
So you have the original maxx; which one: .15trx engine or the one after this with the wider arms? If your still running the original .15 engine then i would say take your engine apart and turbo it. You can find a link somewhere in yahoo on "Turbo .15 TRX PRo" and that should give you a little more power.

the site for the turbo pro 15 is nitrorc.com on their home page you can scroll down and it shows how to port and polish it. i did it and it added a lot of power. i was keepin up with the 2.5's that my friends would race

I just recieved my T-Maxx 3.3 in the mail today. I got only 3 tanks through it due to the rain, but it's showing to be a good powerful truck. Im pretty sure they made the 2.5 maxx so that it could accept larger engines without any serious mods. So you could find an affordable larger mil. Just do alot of research tho and comparing. Make sure that even tho it's larger, it puts out more power. Just because it's larger, doesn't always mean more power. All these people say "sell sell sell, buy a savage, buy this, buy that." If you wanted them you would have bought them in the 1st place. Keep your maxx, do some research, and you'll find something you can afford and like.

I totally agree, I have read tons of threads that say the maxx is a piece of junk and the savage is the way to go. I've had my maxx for over a year now, and the only thing I have broken are a few pins on the tranny gears and the easy start wiring harness, which were very easy and inexpensive fixes. I like to take care of my toys and don't jump them over houses like a lot of guys do, but I have beat my maxx pretty good before and it has had absolutely no problems taking the abuse I put it through

i would definately get stiffer springs, rpm arms& bumpers, and change the shock oil to 35wt. these are the parts my buddy upgraded because the stock setup didn't hold up to good.
