Hi
I am very new to the world of rc boats and I have no clue what I need to buy, so this question may sound stupid.

I am making a boat and I was told I need to get a 6ch transmitter for it. I am not sure what to buy.

I only want a cheap one that will get me started.

Will this do or is this only for air use. http://www.hobbysuperstore.com/inside/store/product.php?id=10890&cat=53

What other cheap 6ch transmitter are there that I could use.

You can get the Futraba Skysport 6 on a 75 mHz surface (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXVW08**&P=0) frequency.

Another option is the 9C Super 2. It can also be purchased on 75MHz, but has changable modules so you can change channels AND change frequency bands, making one radio capable of running boats, cars, tanks , robots AND aircraft. It will cost more($450-$500), but gives more options as well

What boat do you have, and what control options do you need? The most basic controls are steering and throttle; options might include bow thrusters, turrets, sound, lights, etc. Make certain that the surface frequency radio you choose will do what you need - otherwise even an 'inexpensive' radio will become expensive if you need to buy it twice.
