well, I've had my license for little more than a year(I'm 17)...and it was very easy to get my permit. Just don't be stupid when you get your license....I've gone this whole time without getting pulled over, but I don't drive like a grandpa :p

If you have time you might as well read over your state's drivers' manual. I wouldn't worry too much though. :)

Do you mean your class CP lisence, a CDL is a Commercial Drivers Lisence. A CDL is what truck drivers have.

IMO, dont sweat it too much, but do study just a lil bit. More just read over the manual the day before...I got my permit when I was 15 1/2, took the written test twice because I missed it by one question the first time. Then on my 16th birthday I got my intermediate and then on my 17th I got my full license.

It rocks :D

Why can't a 16 yr old get cdl? Is there a minimum age?

tadium54

higher insurance im guessing. a regular truck as a daily driver vs the same truck used for bussiness reasons would have higher accident probabilty written all over it

It's 18 here in Cyprus too.

Driving is not hard at all, I think most humans are born preprogrammed with driving skills that fade away as they get older :D

With the loads of automatic cars in the USA I believe you will be taking your test in an auto. No disrespect to those that failed, but in my mind there is no excuse for failing!

RCRevolution

CDL could stand for Connecticut Driver's Lisence too, stupid multiple states that start with C.

also Manual is fun because you get more interaction with the car keeps you alert.

but manual can also distract you form the road making auto better in that category, so what I say is get what ever car you can afford, and use carfacts if you are buying used

CDL stands for conditional drivers license its like a restricked license but more restrictions.

Down here you can get your permitt at 15 and i did. I enjoy driving but we have some pretty unsafe drivers here so i am kinda worried. I can't remeber how old you have to be to get your actual license but I think that you have to get a bunch of different stuff.

Come on, manual distracting you? You must be kidding!

There is no better feeling in the world than heel-and-toeing your way into a sharp bend from third to second... How can you beat that?

Ya, and there are different classifacations of it. Here you get a learner's permit which requires you ride with a 21 or older driver with so much expierence or a parent. After 6 monthes you can take a road test, and if you pass you get a restricted. This allows you to drive solo, but only for certian hours. You can then get an extended which allows a few more hours if you have a valid reason. After so much time it then becomes a full license. As for motorcycles, and cdl's they have similiar rules, but i don't know the exact things behind it.

in CT , you get your permit and then 4 months later you can get ouy lisence if you go to driving school for 36 hours, or 6 months if you dont, and a drug and alcohol course is required no matter what and thats 10 hours. Unless you wait till your 18 then you don't need anything just go to the DMV but from 16 till 18 is a long time to wait.

once you can get your lisence then you can drive anything thats not commercial.

To get your CDL you need to go through drivers school, I guess they would let you if you have your liscense. Maybe you have to be 21 to go into drivers school (for the CDL).

In Iowa you can get a learners permit at 14!
A school permit after holding a permit 6 months that lets you drive alone to and from school and school activities, must meet certian conditions(live to far away to walk).
At 16 you can get you Graduated Driver Licenses (GDL).
My son is 13 now and he can't wait to drive my Camaro.

here in PA, you can't get your permit until you are 16, once you have your permit you have to complete 50 hours of practice driving with a liscenced(sp?) driver that is 21 or older, once you have your 50 hours and atleast six months have passed since you recieved your permit, you can try for your liscence,(if you are under 18 you get a cinderella liscence, which means you cannot be out driving after midnight) if you don't take your test until after you turn 18, you don't need the 50 hours.

oh, in PA, a Class C liscence is your regular licsense, a class M is a motorcycle liscense, and a CDL is a Commercial Drivers Liscense.

And don't go raggin on people who have failed their tests! it took me three times to get it right, but by the third time, I wasn't near so cocky as I had been the first two times. and DO read your book, even if you have passed your test for your permit. that test is just so they are sure that they aren't putting COMPLETELY incompetent drivers on the road, it don't mean you know everything, I certainly didn't/don't!(end /rant)

here, you can get your permit at 15 1/2 but you must complete 30+ hours of drivers ed. then after 6 monthes of having a permit you can get your license but you cant drive anyone under 21 for 1 year unless you have a parent or someone older than 25...

Yeah, I can't wait to drive my dad's firebird...Is is and '88 formula 350 bored over to a 357...It puts out about 400 hp........Do you know what that sounds like to me? FUN!
