hi :D
I don't think this has been brought up before. Which brand
of drumkey does everyone prefer? I play Sonor drums, and of the
three models that they offer, I prefer the plain steel one. It feels
good and solid, and anchored to the tuning rod. The fancier die-cast
model is too tall and top-heavy, and doesn't seat as securely into
the slot.
Among the other keys that I own, the hands down winner for me is the
art-deco Yamaha key. That key is perfectly balanced and solid. The old
Yamaha (now Premier) key comes in second. Tama's key runs a third.
Pearl's fancy ball-end key is the worst-feeling key I have. I tossed
it to the ground in disgust once while fumbling with the thing, trying
to change a tom head on a Yamaha kit. That thing has no balance!
Ludwig's venerable key is okay. The red-plastic handled, ratchet Speed
Key is great! Remo's key will work if it's all you have. That's my
collection. What about yours?
