View Full Version : Spektrum info
Hello everyone :)
Sorry if this sounds stupid.
I have a question/concern. I have a Spektrum DX-3. I have heard that you can program them to be used with various other cars/trucks. Is the programming process hard. I am not too fond of electronics, in fact they pretty much intimidate me to the point that I have not touched my DX-3. I would like to have all of my cars/trucks on one radio, if thats possible.
Can someone please show me or drop a link with any info on this. It should be titled "Directions for Dummies, Programming your Spektrum"
Thanks in advance, any help is much appreciated.

You'll need a Spektrum receiver for each vehicle you want to use with your DX3. Each receiver needs to be bound to your transmitter. Check out the Spektrum website (link (http://www.spektrumrc.com)), they have a FAQ section in which you can find a video covering the binding process.
Thanks Jake, I appreciate it.
One more question. Is the Binding process the same for the other receivers?
Thanks again

Here's the short version:
1. Turn everything off
2. With RX off, press and hold bind button on RX
3. Turn on RX while keeping bind button depressed
4. Release RX bind button when LED flashes greeen
5. Place TX controls in desired fail-safe positions
6. Press and hold TX bind button
7. Turn on TX while keeping bind button depressed
8. Release TX bind button after LED flashes green
Once the LEDs on the TX and RX stop flashing, the binding process is complete.

I think he means does he have to do that with each spektrum everytime he switches vehicles or once for each?

I'm guessing he was confused because the video on Spektrum's site features their DX6 system which uses a different receiver than the DX2/DX3. In any case, the binding process is the same for all of their receivers and you only have to bind once per receiver unless for some reason you changed transmitters.

I think what they mean be being able to be programmed for multiple cars is the 3 model memory. This means it has 3 different profiles you can program for 3 different cars. Settings from car to car are often different...some need the steering reveresed, some the throttle, ect ect.

That's a good point. I don't have any experience with the DX3 specifically in this regard. I've only used the DX6 and a Spektrum TX module in my surface radio.
Slammed got it,
I didn't know if this process had to be done once or every time it had to used.
Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it. I am going to tackle this over the weekend, hopefully.
Thanks again
