 I went to my local Walmart today to check out the Nylint Rock Crawlers as i decided i wanted to get into crawling but didnt want to spend a whole bunch. I read up on them and they seemed to be around $100 or so for the 1/6 scale ones, but i did even better than that........They were on clearance :D
Regularly $150 but on clearance for $50 the employee told me...i took two :D !!!

When i checked out they actually rang up only $40 a piece!!!!! Im soooo excited right now. A total of $85 spent and i can crawl until my hearts content! I hope they crawl as good as people say!

they have been around for a while. I have 3 of them for me and the boy, and like 8 battery packs. Few weeks ago the packs went on clearance for 5$ each :)
Check out www.rccrawler.com for all the info you could ever want for them. Also to check otu what version you have.

well the scorpion is great ...i did a bit of crawling around my front yard to check it out. The Jeep is missing the DVD and battery cover so im gonna return it tomorrow and get another one.....
One question i have: Is the tranny really supposed to be loud when shifting from low to high or high to low?? And should it make a "clicking" noise when doing so.

yes it clicks and grinds when you shift. I tend to not like to shift on the fly. Come to a stop, shift, then feather the trigger.

yeah thats what i do...thanks jinx. When i return the jeep and get another im gonna get a lexan body and start cutting the center to get more clearance. In stock form its pretty fun :) Ive been reading rccrawler.com and they have done some crazy stuff to them!

somebody post pics of those suckers in action! are they built well and maybe have the possibility of making some custom parts? some cheaper RC's can be modded to be pretty cool, especially when they have good mounting spots.
i.e. metal suspension links/custom chassis/ new shocks/ new electronics....
i've seen these and thought they were pretty cool...the closest thing i've seen to the hobby-quality.

How do they work? Are they the same with different bodies? I am going to go check them out.

i just ran my scorpion a bit in my woods...its fun and it seems tough! didnt take any pics though sorry :) Im returning the other one today because i dont need 2 and could use the money for tires for my stadium truck! But they are fun especially when you consider they are sub $50.
Ill try and get some pics tomorrow of it crawling :)

That would be the jeeps, right? ( used to work there, had to " test" things out, ya know.... :p the little razor dirt bikes haul butt too :D )...anyway, yeah, they dont do bad, decent articulation, and people are modding them too. Definately drill the back side of the wheels for air relief tho, it needs it for the tires to grab better.....and, the diff's are locked too.

I've seen some cool vids of them, but I would go with the 1/6 scale. Looks like it can tackle MUCH more. They've been $50 here for quite awhile. I almost bought one the first time, but luckily I refrained.
Go to rc pics and type in nylint and you will find some.

The wal mart is out of the 1/6 ones. The ones at toys r us are big, not sure if its a 1/6 scale, but its prolly close. Should I pick one up?

One of my friends had 2 of these and he had brought them out to our track one day and they where crawling better then one of the guys TLT's. This was due to the fact he didn't have his diff's locked yet but still for something from wall mart that's pretty damn good. After a while something broke in both of them and he just took them back to wall mart with the reciept (it had been a while when he had returned them to) and they gave him his money back. I wasn't there (I was on vacation) but I wish I was because I've never driven a rock crawler and it looks kind of fun.

I went to pick up one of those 1:6 scale Mylints at Wal-Mart today, but I didnt see anything but the 1:18 scale crawlers. So I might try another local Wal-Mart to see what they have. If I cant get one of those 1:6 scale crawlers should I get the 1:18 instead?

Stopped by WallyWorld today and bought 2 (one of each) and they had another 2 Jeeps and one Scorpion. Shipping would be a little high from 55444 but if you make it worth my time, I can ship one. Just let me know and I will give you a paypal address you can send the money to.

Just picked up a 1/6 scale off Craigslist for $50 NIB! I stripped the body down, painted the bumper, side rails and roll cage black. Also installed some headlights. I'll post pics as soon as I can!

I have the 1/18th Scorpion. It has some weird glitching problem, so I don't drive it as much as I used to. I'm thinking of selling it, but i'd only get lke $5 bucks for it probably.

I've never really looked at it, but is the area up behind the track at Wolcott good for crawling?

I think its ok...seems like more dirt. One place that we go that is incredible is Branford Point in Branford, CT. There are alot of challanging lines to take and plenty of rocks to test your rigs. Lately we have found some pretty crazy lines but were not sure if others will be able to make it up. Like a wall that seems to be at least 85 degrees up.
