Yeah its fine, even better because they deliver a more constant charge flow and you dont have to buy new ones every time, use what ever AA batteries you prefer, but on the long run, it would be best to get a 6V bettery pack for the car as its more powerful...

are those lithium ones that last longer good to use too?

I used rechargeable NiMhs in my transmitters for a while and really had no problems as long as I remembered to keep them charged. The issue for alkaline versus NiMh is the 1.5v for an alkaline versus the 1.2volts for NiMh. Voltage stays higher longer for a NiMh than an alkaline though so the NiMh delivers better performance ultimately.

While you won't have any probs using rechargeables in your transmitter, I wouldn't recomment using 4 NiMh AAs in the receiver. A receiver hump or flat pac is made from 5 NiMh cells so it has 6volts. This gives your servos more power than 4.8volts would. Alkalines loose their punch quickly - under the drain from your electronics, they tend to fall off fairly quick. Either make sure you have plenty of spares (when I was still using them I would buy 24 packs of them at Wally World), or get a good NiMh hump or flat pac and a charger.

i use kirkland signature batteries from costco. I buy them in a box with like 15 or so packs of four. works well
