Has anyone seen the new traxxas trucks run yet? My questions was that the regular stock ones ran at about 20 mph, the stampde, so these new one have a little more pep to them. I am thinking about one b\c of the new gear box and then using the regular 2.2 tires instead of the 2.8 to increase speed. What do ya'll think?

smaller tires will make you go slower, not faster. though you'll probably get better acceleration due to the lower weight.

Yes, I've driven the new Stampede. The batteries that were in it sucked, so it wasn't that ballistic, but it was pretty fast I guess. With some quality batteries and some Deans plugs, it'd probably be real fast.

As for the 2.2's vs the 2.8's...I wouldn't bother until you wear out the stock tires. You won't notice any increase in performance. The tire diameter isn't different between the two, only the wheel size. Besides, the $50 you'd spend on a quality set of wheels and tires for those trucks would be better spent on quality batteries, a good charger, and some Deans plugs so that you can extract every ounce of performance out of the stock motor.

Thanks for clearing that up, I only have one question, if you go to a smaller rim, wouldn't that effect the handling of the tires? more sidewall means less traction in turns, IIRC.
