Saturday i had a kid come into my shop with a MGT. HE wanted a new pull/shaft start put on his truck. His old one was not recoling. i told him i would rebuild it because the new ones have a nice fat price tag of 40.00 to 50.00 bucks. he told me to put on the new one. so i did first pull never recoiled . i checked the one ways bothe of them put the new one in checked them and checked them again. So i took off the pull start and am sending it back to Associated. But my question is have any other MGT owners have the same issue or is he just unlucky?

All owners i think broke there pull start lol. On my cousins, on the first pull it broke, and we just took out the cord all together and used a roto starter from the LST.

that metal coiling wire sometimes gets damaged. I just cut off the pull start and use the drill start

The pullstart is quite easy to repair even if the spring is broken as they usually break where it fits onto the slot.Take it all apart, reshape the spring so it fits onto the slot and carefully put it all back together in the order that you take it apart.
Hope this helps.

Ya i would fix it, but the drill start with the LST rotostarter works very very good, not a single time i have charged it yet and start instantly.

I know what you mean because I use a drillstart as well most of the time but I fixed the pullstart just in case the battery goes down on the drill.
