Sorry I had to start using quotes from T. Nights.

Anyway onto my real question. I am a backyard basher who wants to get into racing at local tracks. There are a few in the area but I feel really intimidated, I wanted to see if I can get some common rules or terms down before I get out there and make a fool of myself.

I have a Jato with the 2.5 engine, what class does that fall into and does the 2 speed tranny make a difference? Also can some explain to me what TQ'ed means and how the qualifying races work with the mains? How do I get into the A Main verses the C Main? How many sets of crystals do I need?

Is there anything else that I really should know before I get out there?

Thanks in advance.

The Jato will run in the Nitro Stadium Truck class. Some tracks only allow a single speed tranny in that class, which is a $10 conversion on the Jato. TQ is Top Qualifier, meaning you had the fastest laps in the qualifying sessions. Most tracks run 3 qualifiers of 5 to 7 minutes, then the mains. As for crystals, I would have at leat 2 extra sets on hand just in case someone else grabs your channel before you get to the frequency board to claim your channel. Good luck.

Is the 2.5 engine considered a small or big block engine? I was also thinking of jumping up to the new 3.3 didn't know what class that was considered either.

Thanks

the 2.5 or the 3.3 would be in the same class. they are both classified as small blocks although the 3.3 is actually a .20!
