I have a '99 (purple label) Novak Cyclone that has been in use since 2000. Is this still a competitive speedo? I also have the Pit Wizard as well. I know this combo may be a bit out of date, but it's so awesome to have and use a novelty item(s) such as this. I have updated it with a 4700uF capacitor and also soldered an inline diode board about 1 inch from the motor with the factory recommended 25 amp(?) diode and also soldered an 8 amp diode to the board as well for additional protection. Novak was indeed the first true king of programmable speedos. Any replies would be appreciated. Later!

I still have a couple of Atoms that I use...they may be old but I think they are far from out of date. Their adjustable drive frequency is still higher then most ESCs on the market today.

Yes you would be, their Cyclone was top notch, you may lack some "punch" but that THAT much. I used to run one, they were niiiiiiiiiiiiice.

Right, & unless you're a big time driver(as in one who makes a lot of A-Mains at big events), then you'll be hard pressed to feel ANY difference in punch between the Cyclone, C2, GT7 or GTX(I know because I have ALL of those but the C2, & I still have them, I use my GT7 & GTX & keep my Cyclones as spares).....

novak products i think have good shelf life and seem hard to beat-with the exception of the evx

The punch is controlled by the frequency of the ESC. They found with the cyclone the higher the frequency the more mushy the throttle felt and lower frequencies felt more punchy. I think this is why the frequency war in ESCs has stopped going toward hiwher frequencies and has actually reversed some into lower frequencies to get more punch for the TCs. So if you want it to feel more like a current ESC just use the programmer to change the frequency.

One Novak ESC I never hear from anymore is the Novak Hammer Pro. I had this in my BMW M3 TC back in the mid-90s. If I could find one for a decent price, I'd get one, for nostalgic reasons.

The Hammer Pro came out before the Cyclone, like the model right before. I had the Racer back then which was essentially the same minus some punch.
